Warwickshire Mixed Pairs 2005/6 – Information for Clubs

This format seemed to be a success last year!  Pairs will qualify via a Club event; a list of clubs who run ‘open’ mixed pairs events is attached.  Clubs who hold ‘open’ events are happy for non-members to play but there may be conditions so please check.

Clubs will hold their normal Mixed Pairs event following which a number of pairs (minimum of two) will be invited to compete in the County’s Grand Final (NB in order to play in the Grand Final players MUST be members of WCBA and EBU – they can join retrospectively!).  Please let me know the size of your original entry as soon as possible.  The number of pairs that qualify from each club will depend on the size of the original entry.  Once Clubs have been informed of the number of qualifying pairs they are asked to invite pairs in rank order, going as far down the list as necessary in order to fulfil the qualification entitlement!  Once qualifiers have been identified please send me a list showing a contact number for each pair.  I would also ask for a reserve pair in case one of the pairs drops out.

Players are NOT interchangeable.  If pairs compete at more than one club they should ensure that they are not selected twice to play in the Grand Final.  There may be a problem if people play with different partners at different clubs.  It will be left to clubs and individuals to sort themselves out!  There is no perfect solution!

If you are not running a Mixed Pairs event please support us by drawing your members attention to the ‘open’ events and answering any queries.

If you are running a Mixed Pairs event I have summarised what you would need to do:-

1.          Run your mixed pairs event, as normal indicating to your pairs that some will qualify for the County’s Grand Final (Wednesday 28 March 2007).

2.    Inform me of the number of tables (original entry if you have qualifying rounds)

3.    Await your qualification entitlement (You will defiantly be able to qualify two pairs)

4.          Once you have received your entitlement please secure agreement of your player in rank order.  NB in order to play in the Grand Final pairs MUST be members of WCBA and EBU.

5.          Send a list of your qualifiers along with a reserve to me.  Please include a contact number and address for each pair.

6.    Ensure your pairs know where and when the final is and that they attend!

7.    That’s it!

Many thanks for your continued support.  This is a new format that will be reviewed at the end of the year.  If you have any queries, comments, or just need clarification of these instructions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
