Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/4 C vegetable shortening
1/2 C Sugar
1/4 C brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 C flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon soda
6 ounces Chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs and vanilla.  Mix all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.  Add chocolate chips.  Bake 9-12 minutes
