Prices are detailed with each course described below with some discounts as
listed:
Static Line (SL):
Course & 1st jump £220 from 1 Apr; group of 5+ £198 each, 10-12
for £1760) subsequent jumps £40.
This Ram Air Progression SL Course requires a minimum
of 6 hours instruction. Courses normally last a full day allowing for coffee,
lunch & tea breaks and normally take place on a Saturday with the jump
normally taking place the next day weather permitting. Occasionally during the
lighter summer nights jumps may be undertaken the day of the course. Courses
can be run on other days for groups of 5 or more if arranged in advance. With
the RAPS SL method the parachute is deployed by a static line secured to a
strong point within the aircraft. Progression is possible to Free Fall on later
jumps. All parachutes used by Skydive Academy & Peterlee Parachute Centre
are of the Ram Air design & all reserves are fitted with automatic opening
devices.
Whilst we can take those weighing over 14stone/196lbs
on a RAPS Course (up to 236lbs might be permitted but a body mass index of 27.5
must still be satisfied) we require prior consultation before accepting such
individuals onto a course where the first jump is intended as a solo descent.
Tandem Free Fall: Course & jump £270; group of 5+ £243.00 each 10+
£216 each). 15.5stone max.
A minimum of 10 minutes instruction is required before a free fall descent
attached to an instructor, however Documentation &
Ground Training normally lasts 40-90 minutes and can take place on any opening
day weather permitting. The Centre normally has 2 Tandem Instructors on call.
We work on a ratio not exceeding 5 students per instructor giving us a capacity
of 10 Tandem Students per day. Given prior notice we can field 5 Tandem
Instructors giving us a capacity of 25 Tandem Students per day. Allowing for
repack cycles the time required for 1 instructor to complete 1 tandem jump
& make ready for the next is in the order of 1.5 hrs; accordingly a full day, or in the case of inclement weather
additional days, should be set aside for this activity.
Accelerated Free
Fall Cost of Course of 8
Levels if completed in 8 jumps = £1,535. We offer an
AFF Level 1 Course for £400 throughout the year.
Post L8 consolidation jumps £40.00 each.

This is an accelerated teaching method relying on a high instructor to student
ratio. Initial instruction & 1st jump can be undertaken in 1 day.
Full course consists of 8 levels, each of which can be completed in 1 jump,
& normally lasts 5 to 7 days. Training & Level 1 can be undertaken
for £435 but only includes provisional BPA membership. Levels 2-3 = £200ea, 4-7
= £150ea, Level 8 = £100. The £1,535.00 course fee includes full BPA
membership, goggles, gloves, log book & £100 non refundable rolling deposit
to be finally used up on Level 8, but not repeat levels. Those paying level by
level do not qualify for the inclusive deal and must fund their own conversion
to full BPA membership before taking Level 2.
We can also arrange for you to take this
course abroad during the winter months.
Whilst we can take those weighing over 14stone/196lbs
on an AFF Course (up to 236lbs might be permitted but a body mass index of 27.5
must still be satisfied) we require prior consultation before accepting such
individuals onto a course where the first jump is intended as a solo descent.
Please note that a £100.00 deposit is required for AFF, be it for the
initial course or for subsequent levels. If paying for the whole course by the
start of the course this deposit is included within the course fee and will
automatically be rolled on from level to level, but should a candidate withdraw
from the course at any stage the deposit in respect of the next level will be
forfeited. Candidates paying level by level must place deposits in advance of
the next level and pay any balance prior to taking that level. Candidates who
do not turn in for, return to take, or withdraw prior to, the next level will
loose their £100.00 deposits.
Please note that on successful completion of
the ground training phase of any course (RAPS SL/Tandem/AFF - all of which
would normally go ahead regardless of the weather conditions) our course students
are issued with a jump ticket valid for a period of 3 months; lest poor
conditions (weather/light etc) cause the jump to be postponed from the initial
dates booked. Revision Training during this 3 month period is provided free of
charge and the 3 month period is automatically extended for a further 3 months
from the date of any Revision Training period attended up to a maximum of 12
months from the original course date. Any individual attending the Centre after
an absence of 3 months will be charged (£50.00 for RAPS SL & Tandem or
£100.00 for AFF) for any Revision Training required. Should any individual not
attend the Centre to take their jump within 12 months of the original course
date, but still wish to jump thereafter, the full course must be re-taken for
the full fee in place at that time.
Continuation Jumps. £40.00 for consolidation jumps post L8
(including gear hire), thereafter as low as £12.50.
General Information. The Centre operates a Cessna 182 & Airvan parachuting aircraft and can open for parachuting 7
days a week by prior arrangement. Our Office Hours are Tuesday -Friday
0930-1600hrs. Parachuting is normally programmed, weather permitting, from
0830hrs Saturday & Sunday, and during British Summer Time on Bank Holiday
Mondays from 0830hrs and Wednesday & Friday afternoons from 1300hrs; unless
for a pre-arranged group booking or AFF Course when we can open 7 days a week.
We have on site parking, toilets, indoor training facilities, weekend bunkhouse
capacity of 24, canteen & licensed bar facility (with a hot drinks machine
on line throughout the week). B&B in the Centre Bunkhouse is £5.00 per
person per night. There is no charge to camp on the Airfield & there is a
range of accommodation in the area details of which can be obtained ourselves on 0191.5171234 or
Directions. From the A19 take the Peterlee exit
(there is only one), and from the roundabout underneath the A19 take the
Shotton Colliery turn off. Follow the road through the large industrial estate
and at the next two roundabouts follow the signs to Shotton Colliery. Exactly
0.5ml later the airfield is signposted to the right, through the Shotton
Colliery Industrial Estate, past the Shotton Tyre
Centre located in Unit One. The road bears left through the Shotton Colliery
Industrial Estate. You may think you are approaching a dead end but keep going
and then bear right at the single garage. You should then be able to see our
turquoise hangar at the top of the track.
Risk. By its nature there is a risk of injury,
serious injury or fatal injury through participation in this sport. Injuries to
student parachutists are on average 6 in 1,000 for RAPS SL, 1.4 in 1,000 for
Tandem and less for AFF. Student injuries are predominantly lower limb or lower
back and can be significantly reduced through adopting the taught body position
prior to canopy deployment and on landing.
Discounts. See each course for specific offers but in general
terms a group of 5+ accords 10% reduction per person & a group of 10+ 20%
per person.
Students (see links below), Forces, the Emergency
Services and individuals making sponsored jumps for charities can receive
better discounts if the bookings are made through their own organisations.
Some individuals electing to undertake sponsored
jumps for certain charities can effectively jump at no cost to themselves.
