Speech to Text Reporting is a service provided by stenographers or palantypists for people who have any kind of hearing loss, whether complete or partial. Text is typed in a form of shorthand on a special phonetic keyboard. Letters are pressed on this keyboard and translated into words by specialist software so they can be read off a laptop screen by the hearing impaired person. The laptop in turn can then be connected to a plasma screen (as shown below for Spring Harvest 2005) or projected for a larger group using a rear projection screen (as shown for Flames of Fire 2005).
