| Most of the compositions on this album are noticeably flavored by the frenetic activity of a crazy kitten who showed up on his doorstep one day. If any cat looked and acted like a “jazz” cat, that one did. The kitten tore around the house, poking his nose into everything. Then he grabbed a quick meal, and cut out just when the subject of kitten adoption came up. He showed up a month later, and once a month for three more months, just to grab a bite to eat and have a little lap time. He always looked healthy and well fed, but no one in the neighborhood had ever seen him, much less knew who he belonged to. | A spontaneous combustion of creativity before a small gathering of respectful listeners at Occidental Community Church.....one of the best acoustical indoor spaces anywhere. Robert struggled fiercely with this old baby grand, one whose mechanical action posed a challenge to his obsession with a smooth, legato melodic line. A Labor of Love indeed!!! | Ellis completed this CD in a one-hour sitting one beautiful Sunday morning in the peaceful countryside just east of Occidental,California. After 44 years of practicing at the piano, he decided it was time to display for the modern ear one version of his hearing of the classics. | The Rob Ellis Piano Trio plays a collection of popular music spanning three generations of music.
