Are you considering entering the Accreditation Scheme (First Stage) in
2004?
In 1995, the Guild introduced an accreditation scheme for those members who
wish to demonstrate to the Guild that they have obtained a high level of
expertise in the art of quilling and a wide range of knowledge in different
quilling techniques. The aim behind this scheme is to give a goal for members
to work to, and to give them recognition for their efforts, by becoming
Accredited Members.
2 Applications should be made to the Registration Officer no later than January 31st 2004 for a registration pack and number for assessment. Submitted work must be received by 31st March 2004. An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent out. Work will be returned with results early in June. Certificates will be presented at the AGM later in the year.
3 The accreditation pieces must have been made within the last eighteen months.
4 Applicants should study the Guild's definitions of techniques and shapes as contained in their handbook under section 9. Further copies of the definitions can be obtained on request but will incur further copying and postal charges. These definitions will be used when the work is assessed.
5 Applicants from Mainland Britain: A fee of £10 (sterling) made out to The Quilling Guild, plus 40p in stamps, must accompany your request for a registration number. This fee is reduced to £7.50 for anyone re-applying for Accreditation.
Applicants from overseas: Sterling cheques as above or Credit Card transactions can be made using Visa, Mastercard or American Express for Fee and postal charges if required. Further details from the Registration Officer.
6 Return postage in UK stamps or Credit card (card type, card number and expiry date) must be enclosed with the work.
7 All items including submitted pieces, design sources, and working notes must have your registration number on the back - your name must NOT be visible on any item.
8 Unless applicants notify us in writing, when submitting their work, it will be assumed that advance permission has been given for a random sample of pieces to be photographed for assessors' training purposes. Such photographs will not be used for any other purpose without the applicant's specific permission.
CRITERIA: You are required to complete both Part A and Part B
Part A : Sampler of Quilling Techniques
You will be provided with a pre-printed card showing a grid. This must be completed in shades of orange with examples of each of the following techniques, please remember the assessors are looking for evidence of technical quilling skill.
Closed loose coils
Tight coils
Open filigree work
Alternate side looping / Huskings
Wheatear
Only 1 shape should be glued in each box on the grid and all examples must be contained within the perimeter of that box. All boxes should be used.
Part B : Design and Application
Your work in Part B should also reflect your technical expertise. It could be contained in one piece but two pieces allow further opportunities to demonstrate your skills. The maximum is two pieces for Part B. Whichever you choose, it/they must contain between them, the minimum of three examples of each of the above 5 techniques.
If you choose just to submit one piece it must be original and with its design source indicated (this could be from fabrics, photos or even just from your own imagination!) with accompanying working notes and diagram(s).
If you submit two pieces in this section, the second can be original or from a published pattern or kit but full details and a picture from the publication or kit must accompany your work.
A checklist of the techniques/shapes used in each piece should be written on the relevant working notes.
