| First, a
little about Pocket Pediatrics | Then: Back in August of 1991, with the help of several Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and
more than a dozen Pediatricians, a pocket size book of pediatric drug information was written by a
pharmacist working in the pediatric clinic of a large HMO. This book, entitled the Pocket Guide to Pediatric Drugs, was very well received
by pharmacists, nurses and physicians within the organization. Over 1000 copies were distributed.
And in 1999: The original author, with the help of a pharmacist specializing in drug
information, has taken this book and revised and updated it. The book is a small paperback designed
to be carried in your pocket for quick reference to over 300 of the most commonly used pediatric
outpatient medications. Not weighted down with extraneous details and infrequently used medications,
it contains just enough information to confirm an indication, calculate a dose or check the
available dosage forms and strengths of the included drugs. Available while supplies last.
And Now: The paperback version has been made into a Palm PDA version,
with updated information and new drugs.
| | Along with the Pocket Guide to Pediatric Drugs, we also have developed
several Quick Reference Sheets to speed dosage
calculations of the most frequently used medications and Parent Information
Cards to help parents properly care for their child. The information
contained on the Quick Reference Sheets and the
Parent Information Cards is adapted from the
Pocket Guide to Pediatric Drugs. The Quick Reference Sheets are available covering drugs for
otitis media and cough and cold products, asthma medications, and vaccines. The Parent Information Cards are available covering
medication administration techniques and frequently used pediatric OTC medications. Any of our
materials can be used by parents who want additional information about their child's medications.
