Site updated 2/28/99

Welcome to a Pink World!

You are visitor since 12/4/95 according to the Web Counter. (5569 as of 2/28/99)

No, this has nothing to do with that kind of "pink". This site is named after the landmark 1984 rock album by Planet P Project, a front for musician Tony Carey. I'll be your host for this Web Experience, Jim Bailey. I picked this particular label for my site because Pink World combines two great passions of mine: music, and science fiction/fantasy, which are both represented in these pages. I also dabble at becoming a writer of SF/F, so I'll try to pass along any knowledge on the subject I gather. Since one of my goals is to write something for Star Trek, I've even added my own piece to the bloat of fan sites on the Internet. There will also be the usual smattering of miscellania, so grab a Jolt Cola, hunker down, and have some fun wandering the halls!

I've cut back a LOT of what I was originally trying to do with this site. Mostly because I've been busy working on 2 other sites, my own Short Fiction Roundup on my SFF-Net web pages (linked above via my name), and The Market List, which is a listing of markets available for writers of Science Fiction and Fantasy short stories (sense a pattern? *grin*). Unfortunately, I'm also way behind on updating those sites, which is why I'm going to whack just about everything that was here except the Planet P/Tony Carey area, and a few general pages. When I get those other sites better organized, I'll come back here to fiddle with these some more. Right now, I still haven't updated a lot of the underlying pages, just cut out some underbrush, just wanted a fresh front page for now.

I hope you still enjoy what you see here, and don't hesitate to send me e-mail at pinkworld@aol.com, I've been a tiny bit better about reading and responding to it lately, though I still do have a backlog I need to organize and work through. My thanks to everybody that has visited over the years -- may it continue for many more. :-)

Details, Details, Details...

I've provided links to all of my major areas in the above paragraph, but for those of you who want to know what you're getting into, here's a rundown of the major topic areas. Also listed is the "highlight" topic in each area. I'm putting special emphasis on these areas to try to make them important stops on the WWW.

Personal: To find out about me, visit my set of pages on SFF-Net, an online community of writers and fans mostly from the Science-Fiction and Fantasy world. The big news at the moment [2/28/99] is that I've made my first professional short-story sale to an anthology titled The Age of Reason: Stories of the New Millenium, which will be published by SFF-Net in September '99. :-)

Soundtrack: Music information and links. I've cut back on this section some in order to be able to keep up with the rest of my site, but hopefully, I can slowly build this back up into something interesting.

Tony Carey/Planet P Project Fan Page: I seem to have started something here. The discussions that started here have led to several other web sites devoted to this talented musician. See how it all started and add your own 2 cents to the talk! (Yes, I am looking for new posts now [2/28/99] so take a look and comment!)

Faster-Than-Light: This is my area for Science Fiction and Fantasy. Information and links slanted toward the written word.

Short Fiction Roundup: Over on my SFF-Net pages, I've created a site for the discussion and promotion of the genre's current short fiction. Drop on by to see what's up with the magazines and anthologies, then let us know what you think of the stories you've read in the reader review area.

Writer's Block: While writing is the most important aspect of my offline pursuits right now, for this web page, I have to curtail this area severely, at least for my pages here. I'll work on adding valuable links to this page over time, though. Including...

The Market List: This isn't my site, but I work there, so I'm plugging it heavily! Dozens of markets for SF/F/H short stories are listed, many with full guidelines. This is where my writing research energy will be going anyway, so I might as well list it here and get credit for it. *grin*

Subspace Relay: Another area that has to be severely cut back. The one part of this I'll keep is...

So You Wanna Write a Star Trek Story?: Guidelines for novels for Pocket Books, script guidelines for DS9 and Voyager, and soon, rules for the Strange New Worlds III short-story contest from Pocket Books.

Everything Else: Like the title says.

Finally, I always welcome feedback on any aspect of my site, so feel free to e-mail me at: pinkworld@aol.com if you have any comments or information you would like to share.

Best,
Jim Bailey
