Club News and Updates
Latest News from ODMAC as from September 2007.
As you all know, the Club is STILL missing a field it can
call its own and indeed, one which it can use at all !! The Crompton Moor site is still for us to use from
August 1st. to March 31st., but winter up there can be a bit unpleasant. Thus we are still looking for the
elusive "home" for the Power side of the Club. For the times of operation at Crompton
Moor, see below on this page. Also the frequencies of operation
Even though we have not had a field for some SEVEN years
now, the Helicopter section keeps on growing and they fly wherever they can when they can under the keen eye
of our Chairman, Mr. Alan Rait.
Likewise the Glider section is still going strong and this
year they must have had more wind than they know what to do with. Every day seems a windy day. I do not think
that there is anyone in charge of organizing this section as such, but I am sure that they have been out
there on a weekly basis doing their thing.
The Club officials have been in constant contact with the
Councillors, Council Officers, Ecological groups and Casey's to try and find a field at lower altitude, but
still no go. We are not despondent and are vigilant in our search and we will keep you fully informed of
any progress obtained.
Manchester Airport Sponsorship.
As you may see on the front page of this site, we have
had some good news and have received some sponsorship from Manchester Airport. This can only do the Club good
and will help us to continue our existence until that field is found. Thank you Manchester Airport for
having some faith in us at this time and giving us the enthusiasm to continue the fight.
Times of flying are 9.00am. to 7.00pm. Monday to Saturday and 12.pm. to 7.00pm. on
Sunday. I hope that this gives you the stick time you need to get you up to 'A' or 'B' Certificate standard. You never know, I may even get my 'A' this
year !!
Frequencies will be as per the BMFA recommendations and as practised at Bishop's
Park last year ie. ODDS for Power I/C and EVENS for Gliders/Silent Flight. NOTE that some frequencies have been reserved for GLIDERS ONLY and this
will still be the case. These are 80, 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85. Thus there will be NO Power I/C models flown on the ODD frequencies mentioned ie. 81,
83 and 85. All other ODD frequencies between 55 and 90 will be allowed for Power I/C except those previously mentioned.
If you have any comments to make on these items, then please do not hesitate to contact
any member of the Committee listed above on the Contacts page.
