[Deed between Zebulon Wright and Elijah Wright. 1743]

This instrument of Writing Testifieth that whereas Zebulun Wright and Elijah Wright both of the Township of Oysterbay In Queens County on Nassau Island Being Lawfully seired and possessed of a Certain Tract of land Situate Lying and Being at a place commonly called Norwich part where of is located on the East side of the River that leads down the Hollow to Oysterbay Mill Swamp and part Where of is Lying on the West Side of the said river and it is concluded and agreed by and between the parties to divide the same in two parts as equally in Quality as they can which is in the following measures first it is concluded covenanted and firmly agreed by and between the parties that Eijah Wright his heirs and assigns shall have and injoye the Eastend of the Land with all the Improvements which are Contained in the following Bounds first Beginning two rods and one half East of the Brook at a Jag or Corner of John Durlands land and on the east side of the Highway so Running by the Highway North 25½° West thirty three rods themes and one half thence North 36½° west thirty two rods themes North 40°: West about 28 rod and 1/3 to a large rock and from the said rock North 42°E: five rods and three links of chain and from thence North eighteen degrees and one half West until it meeds the North side or Line of the Tract of Land thence running Eastward by in the said line to a black oak tree Marked Standing on the Hill side thence east 1°; North 109 rods thence East 40°; North 26: rods to a black oak sapling thence south 33° east 28 rods (and so along the West side of the Highway that Leads to Oysterbay from Jericho) South 11°: East 32 rods thence South 4½° east 52 rods to the Southeast Corner of the said tract thence west 16°: South 64 rods to a Spanish oaktree thence south 10½ East 8 rods 20 links thence West 19½° South 38 rods to the first mentioned highway in the Hollow thence North 39° West about 15 rods to the first Bounds Comprehending within the same about Ninty one Acres and Twenty six square rods as it was Measured by the eighteen foot pole. Now know ye that I the above Named Zebulun Wright for and in the Consideration of the West half of the tract of land (to me Released by my Brother the said Elijah Wright Bearing date equal to these presents) hath remised released and forever Quit claimed and by these presents for me my heirs and successors Do fully freely clearly and Absolutely remise release and forever Quit claim unto my Brother Elijah Wright his heirs and assigns forever the Eastend of the first above routed tract of land according as is set a part & before described by Course and Distance Containing as above said about Ninty one acres and Twenty six square rods Together with all the Houses Barn orchads fences fields pasturs Waters Timbers Trees and all other the Appurtenances and Improvements Whatsoever together with the reversions and remainders thereof To have and to Hold the above Demised premises with the appurtenances unto Him the said Elijah Wright his heirs and Assigns forever to his and their own proper right use Benefit and behoof forever and that the said Elijah Wright his heirs and assigns Shall and may by force and vertue hereof Lawfully Quietly and peaceably Have Hold Use occupy Command Injoye and possess the above remised premises with all and Every of the appurtenances without the let hiderence or Molestation of me the said Zebulun Wright my heirs Executors admits or assigns and from any and all other persons Claiming and Right Title or interest from by or under me but that the said Zebulun Wright his heirs Executors and admits and assigns Shall and are hereby Excluded and forever hereafter debarred from having any Right Title Claim Chalenge or demand to the above Remised piece of land and Improvements with the appurtenances In Witness hereunto the Said Zebulun Wright hath set to My hand and fixed my Seal this this Twenty first Day of March one thousand Seven Hundred and forty three

Memorandum that on the 5th day of April 1743 then Samuel Willis one of the witnesses to this said deed of Release Came before me David Seaman, one of the Judges of the Court of pleas for Queens County assigned and solemnly declared that he said the above written Zebulon Wright Executed this Deed of Release as his own free and volentary Cut and deed which having examined (and finding no material Interlination) I allow to be recorded
