[William Townsend deeds Oyster Bay salt meadow to Gideon Wright. 1815.]This Indenture made this Thirtieth day of May in the year of our Lord, One thousand, eight hundred, and fifteen, between William Townsend, of the Township of Oyster Bay, Queens County, and State of New York, of the one part, and the Gideon Wright, of the same Township County, and State aforesaid, of the other part, Witnefseth,that the said William Townsend for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred, and sixty five dollars, to him in hand paid by the said Gideon Wright, the receipt whereof the said William Townsend doth hereby acknowledge. He the said William Townsend hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Gideon Wright, his heirs and afsigns forever, all that of a Lot of Salt Meadow situate in the Village of Oyster Bay, and bounded as followeth, on the north by the Harbour of Oyster Bay, or rather by the Highway which runs between said Meadow and the Harbour of Oyster Bay; on the East by the Meadow of Gideon Wright, on the south by Land of Townsend Parish and the Highway; and on the west by Meadow of Horace Wright: to have and to hold the said Lot of Salt Meadow, and every part thereof unto the said Gideon Wright, his heirs and afsigns, to the only proper use and behoof of the said Gideon Wright, his heirs and afsigns forever. And the said William Townsend for him and his heirs the said Lot of Salt Meadow, and every part thereof, against him and his heirs, and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever, to the said Gideon Wright, his heirs and afsigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents: And I Margaret Townsend, wife of the within named William Townsend, do yield up and surrender all my right of Dower and power of thirds of and to the aforesaid Lot of Salt Meadow. In witnefs whereof the parties to these presents have here unto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

I certify that on the thirtieth day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifteen personally appeared before me James Heegeman one of the Judges of the Court of Cornman pleas for the said County William Townsend and Margaret Townsend his wife persons well known to me and said William did acknowledge that he signed sealed and delivered this Deed for the purpose therein mentioned and said Margaret after being duly examined by me separate and apart from her husband did ackowledge that she signed and sealed freely without being under any fear or compultion from her husband and having examined the same find no material rasures or Interlinations therein do allow that it may be Recorded ~
