THE word Evangelism is never mentioned in the Word of God but the word Evangelist is mentioned three times

Philip the evangelist Acts 21:8

Do the work of an evangelist. 2 Tim. 4:5

Some prophets some evangelist Eph. .4:11

Evangelism is that dimension and activity of the church's mission which, by word and deed and in the light of particular conditions and a particular context, offers every person and community, everywhere, a valid opportunity to be directly challenged to a radical reorientation of their lives, a reorientation which involves such things as deliverance from slavery to the world and its powers; embracing Christ as Savior and Lord, becoming a living member of his community, the church; being enlisted into his service of reconciliation, peace and justice on earth; and being committed to God's purpose of placing all things under the rule of Christ.

God's order has always been that every Christian should be a witness Acts 1:8 "ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth".

Act 8:4 "Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word".

The reason that we find personal evangelism so hard is often because we are spiritually cold.

John Wesley said "We are all at it, and at it always". Evangelism

1) Doing what we can.

Mary of Bethany Mark 14:3-9

The Lord asks us to use the talents he has given us. Matt. 25:15
The Lord does no ask us to be some great evangelist We must be who we are .As we use the talents which God has given us other talents will develop.

2) By Prayer
Remember the story of the two elderly sisters 82 & 84 in the Hebrides. They prayed for 22 years and then revival broke out in October 1951

3) By Bible Study
Perhaps the opportunity will come to answer a perplexing question with authority from the Bible. Just be a witness.

4) By the unction of the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit knows the hearts of others, their needs and problems and can arrange “accidental” meetings for us.
We need to make sure our lives are empty of self and sin, so that the Holy Spirit can fill us, use us and then when we are filled it will overflow so that other receive the blessing.

5) By a quiet, consistent Christian testimony. If we have this then our friends and work colleagues will come to
us in the time of need Luke 11:5 “And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves”;
Some years ago a group of people from different countries were discussing various ways of telling other people about Jesus. A young girl from Africa was asked ‘What do you do in your country?’ She replied, ‘We don’t have any missions or give tracts out, we just send one or two Christian families to live and work in a village, and when people see what they are like, they want to become Christians them selves “By their fruit you shall know them”

6) By watching older and mature Christians. They will soon pass on and their work and responsibilities will be

inherited by you. This reminds me what a tremendous responsibility rests on older Christians.

7) By attempting small tasks first

Later as you gifts develop you will be able to take on bigger tasks.

8) By practice None of us will learn by just listening or reading books only. We need to practice what we have

Learned. Jump in the deep end and then practice what you’ve learned.
