The first Old Testament Question. “Where art thou?” [Gen 3:9] This question was asked to man by God. There is a question to ask a few times, please try to answer it. [1] Where art thou? Position a. Away from God Distanced. “All we like sheep have gone astray” b. Lost to God Estranged, Like the prodigal son No fellowship with God, No service for God. c. Separated from God. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear”. [Isa.59:2] d. Hidden. The tree - A barrier. [2] Where art thou?. Condition a. Hiding 1/ Because of fear. Fearful. Of the unknown God. Unknown future. Unknown action of God. 2/ Because of nakedness. Naked. But he forgot God sees all 3/ Though disobedience. Disobedient Rebellion to the revelation of God. 4/ Through Ignorance. Ignorant. 5/ Because Guilty Guilty. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” [Romans 3:10] [3] Where art thou Personal You say I don’t know. 1/ Everybody is somewhere. In relation to God 2/ Some people are where they ought not to be. God has called you many times. In youth, middle years, older years. 3/ No one is where God cannot see them. “And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me:” [Gen. 16:13] You may not be able to see God BUT He sees you just where you are. Adam blamed God for giving him the woman Adam blamed the woman God had given him. Adam made out he had no free will. “she gave me” Where are you in relation to God? Where? A positional question. away or near? Lost or found? Art? A pointed question right now where are you? Thou? A personal question. Sinner or Saint? Saved or unsaved? The first New Testament Question.
Where is He? [Matt. 2:2] This question was asked by men about the Son of God. Historically [1] In the manger. Incarnate “God sent forth His Son born of a woman.” [Gal. 4:4]
[2] On the cross. Dying. Pilate and the Jewish leaders. “But God commendeth His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” [Rom. 5:8]
[3] On the throne. Paul could write. “God hath highly exalted Him” “Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.” [Acts.5:31]
[A] Where is he ? Personally. Outside of your life? NO ROOM for Him? No time for Him? No thought for Him? In fact you don’t know where He is and you don’t much care?
[B] Where is He? I have received Him as my Saviour I am trusting Him with my all. In my Life. Lord of my life.
[C] Where is He? Is He Lord? Is He reigning King? Is He on the throne of your life?
WHERE ART THOU? On your knees repenting and asking for forgiveness.
WHERE IS HE? Still outside your life? Just in your life? OR Ruling King?
