1. Open a transparent
canvas of 100 x 150 pixels. This should
give us plenty of room to work with and can
always be cropped down later.
2. Pick your paintbrush
set at size one and draw the outline by
following the picture.
These are the colors I used but feel free to
choose your own.
Skin #CB9577
Denim #5181A9
T-Shirt #88ADCA
Hair/Bag #DACF6E
Shoes #2E4F68
3. Pick your flood fill
tool (the bucket) and making sure that the
'sample merged' box is checked, fill in your
girl. These are the color that I chose:
Skin #FFD8C1
Denim #78ABDA
T-Shirt #E1EBF3
Hair/Bag #FFF9CB
Shoes #49647A
Belt #88ADCA
NOW FOR THE
SHADING
4. Pick your magic wand and select
the trousers.
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = -1
Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 90
Blur = 8
Shade = #5181A9
Keep selected and apply the same cutout but
changing the horizontal to -2 (minus 2)
Deselect. 5. Pick your magic wand and select
the left sleeve (your left).
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = -1
Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 80
Blur = 6
Shade = #5181A9
Deselect. 6. With your magic wand and select
the right sleeve (your right).
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = -2
Horizontal = -2
Opacity = 80
Blur = 6
Shade = #5181A9
Deselect. 7. With your magic wand and select
the left lapel (your left).
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal =-1
Opacity = 80
Blur = 4
Shade = #5181A9
Deselect. 8. With your magic wand and select
the right lapel (your right).
Selections > Float >

Deselect. 9. With your magic wand and select
the hat brim.
Selections > Float >

the right hat section (your right).

the T-Shirt.

Deselect. 15. With your magic wand and select
the hair, both sections.
(Hold down the shift key to select more than one
area at a time).

with these settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 80
Blur = 3
Shade = #D7CA5D
Deselect. 16. With your magic wand and select
the left side of the bag (your left).
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = -1
Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 80
Blur = 5
Shade = #D7CA5D
Deselect. 17. With your magic wand and select
the right side of the bag (your right).
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout

Deselect. 18. With your magic wand and select
the face.
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:

Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 80
Blur = 10
Shade = #CB9577
Deselect. 18. With your magic wand and select
the neck.
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 65
Blur = 5
Shade = #CB9577
Deselect. 19. With your magic wand and select
the belly.
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 70
Blur = 5
Shade = #CB9577
Deselect. Apply the same
cutout you used in part no.19 to the left hand
and the right hand.
(one at a time) 20. With your magic wand and select
both shoes (hold down the shift key)
Selections > Float >
Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
with these settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 85
Blur = 5
Shade = #2E4F68
Deselect.
21. Pick your paintbrush
tool set at size one and draw in her features.

Nose/eyebrow #CB9577
Eye dark blue #78ABDA, light blue #ABD1F1
Mouth dark pink E54F3F, light pink #E86A60
Crop down your picture and
you're done!
