PUT A FREE MIDI FILE ON YOUR HOMEPAGE...

A MIDI file is an electronic composition of music. They are much smaller than a WAV files, so they load into your visitors browsers much faster. The smaller a file is the faster it will load. MIDI files are an ideal way to add a little pizazz to your website. There are several ways to add a MIDI file to your homepage. You may embed MIDI files into your homepage as backround music or provide them as a clickable link such as is on this website. If you decide to embed a MIDI file on your page you may do it as I have done on this website, with a small console which will start or stop the music as the visitor wishes. You may also embed them without the small console, and they will play without the visitors having access or ability to stop and start the music at will. In any event, you will need to add a small piece of html code to the body section of your homepage in order to make them play...Here are the instructions and html that will do that for you...


YOU MUST FIRST SAVE THE MIDI TO YOUR HARDDRIVE
PLEASE DO NOT LINK DIRECTLY FROM THIS SITE
RIGHT CLICK ON THE MIDI YOU WANT TO USE. THEN CHOOSE "SAVE TARGET AS.." or "SAVE LINK AS", AND SAVE THE MIDI TO YOUR HARDDRIVE WHERE YOU CAN EASILY LOCATE IT.

NOW YOU MUST UPLOAD IT TO YOUR FTP SPACE
REMEMBER THE REMOTE FILE NAME! MAKE SURE TO ADD THE FILE EXTENSION .mid TO THE REMOTE FILE NAME

THEN COPY AND PASTE THE SOUND CODE TO THE
BODY SECTION OF YOUR HOMEPAGE.

FINALLY ENTER THE REMOTE FILE NAME IN THE CODE.

            HIGHLITE CODE <EMBED SRC="REMOTE FILE NAME HERE.mid" WIDTH=144 HEIGHT=60 AUTOSTART="true" LOOP="1" HIDDEN="true"> SAVE THE PAGE. This code will loop the midi 1 time. to change the number of loops, simply change the 1 in the code to the desired number of loops. Also, if you change the HIDDEN="true" to HIDDEN="false", a neat little consol will appear as is seen at the bottom of this page, that will enable the surfer to stop or start the music at will. By following the previously listed steps, you will be able to embed any of these, or your own midis or wavs, as backround music on your homepage. The music will load and play automatically when your page is loaded.

If you wish to provide a MIDI file as a clickable link as I have done at the top of this page then you simply need to add a regular link to the body section of you page that will call the MIDI file into action...

This code will place a regular link on your homepage that will play the MIDI file when the visitor clicks on it.
