This is our RetrieVe foundation course and is aimed at beginners, non-technical users and technical staff who will be using RetrieVe on UniVerse systems

This Course is suitable for anyone working on Universe systems.

Prerequisites: A basic familiarity with the UniVerse system and the structure of files and items

Contents: We cover the essential features of RetrieVe statements and the RetrieVe language:

• Displaying and printing reports

• Selection criteria

• Sort specifications

• Control-breaks

• Totals and subtotals

• The modifiers: MAX, MIN, ENUMERATE

• Percentages and averages

• Modifiers

We go on to look at

• Select-lists

• Saved-lists

• The command stack

• Sentences and paragraphs

• In-line formatting with the EVAL, CONV, FMT, and COL.HDG clauses

There is additional material on looking at dictionary descriptors.

The Course applies the principles of RetrieVe to a set of Course files and also to the student's own database
