MB-Master Courses: PickThe following courses cover various aspects of generic Pick & MultiValue systems: This course is aimed at anyone who is to be responsible for the day to day running of their system, possibly in an operational role or as Systems Manager or Systems Administrator This Course is suitable for anyone working on: jBASE mv·BASE Power95 R83 and generic MultiValue systems. Although the general principles may be the same, this is not suitable as an MB-Master Self-Tuition Course on non-generic systems, such as UniVerse, UniData, Prime and Advanced Revelation, without considerable support and guidance from the System Manager or on-site personnel Prerequisites: A familiarity with MultiValue systems to the level reached on the foundation course PICK1: Starting Pick Participants will derive greatest benefit from the course if they have had some practical experience in operational aspects of the operating system and are already familiar with the nature of the systems management duties Contents: We cover the work to be performed by anyone with an operational responsibility for the MultiValue system: Switching the system on and off Checking and resetting the system parameters Creating and deleting accounts Monitoring files Creating logon Procs and closed systems Living with the spooler Using the backing storage devices Saving and restoring data Selective restores Using the file statistics Resizing files Security aspects – system privileges, passwords, lock-codes Checking for, finding, correcting and recovering from group format errors (GFEs) Using the system's message facilities
