We all have them...hints..tips...things to make life easier...some handed down from grandmother to mother
to  daughter. Some we pick up throughout our lives, from magazines,TV programmes, friends.
Some we come across by  accident...lucky little 'accidents' happen..our own little "Eurekas"! Some make
use of ordinary every day items..some are a bit odd...for instance...
did you know that ear wax is good for mouth ulcers? It's a natural remedy for them...not that I've tried it..
and I doubt that many people have...but it's supposed to work?  If anyone is brave enough to try it, please let me know..I'd love to find out if it really works!

I've gathered hints and tips for years so I thought I'd share them with people on my website.

           GARDENING

KEEPING FINGERNAILS CLEAN
To keep fingernails clean whilst doing gardening,
before going out to the garden scrape your fingernails
across a bar of soap and leave the soap under your
nails. Garden dirt cannot get underneath your nails.
When you've finished just wash the soap from under
the nails.

PLANT TIES
Cut canes into 6" lengths and tie strips of garden twine
or wire around them and place in the ground around
your garden hidden behind/under plants. You will never
be too far away from a tie when you need one.

PLANT NAME TAGS
Cut white plastic ice cream containers into strips to use
as plant name tags.

SLUG FREE PLANT CONTAINERS
Stop slugs and snails from climbing up plant containers
and eating the plants by placing a ring of vaseline around
the containers. The slugs/snails will slide off the containers.

MUDDY BOOTS
If you find that you have to keep going indoors whilst you
are out in the garden with muddy boots on, keep your floors
clean by placing two shower caps near the door. You can
easily step into them when you need to go inside, then step
out of them on our way out...saves having to take your boots
on and off.

ADHESIVE TAPE

BE SEEN AT NIGHT
Stick some reflective/fluorescent (waterproof) tape onto the mudguards of your bike and a piece onto the sides of the pedals, you will always be seen when cycling.

AS A LINT/HAIR REMOVER
To remove lint or pet hairs from your clothes, wrap some sellotape around your hand, sticky side out, of course, and then run your hand over your clothes, all the bits of lint and hairs stick to the tape!g in the dark.

KEEP CAR DOOR LOCKS FROM ICING UP
If you know that you are in for some snow or icy
weather cover your car locks with masking tape,
it helps to keep them dry and they won't ice up.

PICK BROKEN GLASS UP SAFELY
If you break a glass, the tiny slivers can be lifted from the carpet with a long strip of tape held between your two hands and dabs lightly along the carpet.

TO DRILL HOLE
Sticking a piece of sellotape around the drill bit ensures that you drill the hole to the correct depth. Just stop when you reach the sellotape!

CHILDREN'S' WAX CRAYONS
Wrapping masking tape around your kids crayons will stop them from breaking in half, which they always seem to do.

MARKING FOOD BAGS IN THE FREEZER
When freezing food, write the details of what you are freezing on a piece of masking tape and stick to the bag/container. It stays intact and you won't be eating pureed peaches instead of mashed carrots!

SENDING PARCELS THROUGH THE POST
After sticking the address label onto your parcel place strips of sellotape over the address so that it is covered completely. If the parcel gets wet in the rain the address will be waterproof and will not be washed
away.

WARDROBE/CLOTHES

before the first wash.

To give your clothes a nice smell put a few drops of
your fave cologne into the water when using a steam
iron. It gives a delicate smell to the clothing. (Make

crease along the sleeve, roll up a newspaper with
a tea towel and slip it into the sleeve. It makes a good
ironing pad for the sleeve and you won't have that dreaded crease.

trouser leg creases then iron on the right side as
