Michelle Rene'

THE DEFINITIVE "Cowboy's Sweetheart"

Biography

Country music artist, Michelle Rene', was born in April 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Coming from a long line of traditional country music performers, Michelle knew inevitably, at an early age, that making great country music was simply "in her blood".
"There was no escaping it. My great-grandfather, Charles Coulson, was the Oklahoma State Fiddle Champion from 1956 and well into the late 1960's; my great-aunt and uncle, Wanita and Nolen Rich, owned the local Chuck Wagon in Enid, Oklahoma, where Kitty Wells, Bob Wills, Hank Thomposn, Billy Grey and numerous other notable vocalists performed; and by the time my father, David Franklin, was 5 years old he was sharing the stage with those very personalities. I'm just a 'chip off the old block', you might say."
In fact, Michelle and her father, together, continue to keep the family tradition alive; often sharing the same stage. It is his passion for the art of traditional country music which has instilled in Michelle a true sense of family values and an appreciation for country's roots.
"As a child, growing up, I was always singing. Country music was such a big part of our lives. I sang with my dad and his friends; I sang with my family; and I sang with groups of people but, oddly enough, I could never be coaxed to sing alone in public. Never. Until one night in 1996 when I discovered something that would change my life forever.....KARAOKE. That's all it took! I was hooked and, since that very moment, I've been singing publicly every chance I get."
In 1997, Michelle Rene' joined the Country Music Singer's Association of Oklahoma and began gracing their stage in various showcases sponsored by the organization. Well received by the associations members and fans alike, Michelle began auditioning and landing performance spots with other statewide performance showcase venues including:
  • The Oklahoma Opry in Oklahoma City
  • The Heartland Opry in Lexington, Oklahoma
  • The State Fair of Oklahoma
  • The Opry Station in Moore, Oklahoma
  • The Harrah Theatre in Harrah, Oklahoma
  • The Oklahoma Country and Western Hall of Fame Museum
While pursuing a solo career in country music, Michelle continues to perform with her father regularly. As father and daughter, they unselfishly contribute their time and love for country music by performing for Oklahoma's elderly citizens and various charitable organizations.
"It thrills me to see a weary face suddenly light up like a Christmas tree when they hear my dad singing a traditional piece; some song that stirs up a memory or recollection for them. I share with them some of today's more beautiful and contemporary ballads. It just is a wonderful opportunity to interact with them; to bring a little happiness to their often mundane lives. And what they give back....well, it just can't be measured."
In January of 2000, Michelle was approached by Oklahoma country songwriter, Randal Walker, who happended upon one of her karaoke performances at an Oklahoma City nightspot. He was so impressed by her rendition of "Cowboy Sweetheart" that he began questioning other vocalists about "the yodeling gal". Equally impressed by his songwriting artistry, the two began working directly with one another. By March of 2000, Michelle was recording at Woodside Studios in Del City, Oklahoma. This union of songwriter with vocalist continues to produce some incredible and original country sounds.
"This has been one of the most exciting and fulfilling experiences of my life, working with Randal. I can't help but wonder where this musical journey will take me. Regardless, here I am World...."
