1. RULES: As defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008 and prescriptions of the US Sailing Association (US SAILING), as modified by the 2007 Tri-service Regatta sailing instructions. b. The ISAF Sailor Classification Guide applies. As an amateur event, professionals are ineligible unless bona fide members of an eligible Club (LYC-NNSA-OPCYC). c. Unless expressly changed by the Tri-Service Sailing Instructions, the Cruising Club of Virginia (CCV) General Sailing Instructions apply. Printed copies will be made available for non-CCV skipper review prior to the race at the skipper’s meeting. d. Tri-service Sailing Instructions will be available from John Ritter (contact info below) or at (http://members.aol.com/langleyyc) after 15 August 2007.
2. ELIGIBILTY AND ENTRY: This race is open to members of Langley Yacht Club, Norfolk Naval Sailing Association, and Old Point Comfort Yacht Clubs. All competing yachts must be self-righting monohull displacement vessels 20’ LOA or longer, must comply with PHRF of the Chesapeake Category 4P Safety Equipment requirements and must carry liability insurance. Non-member yachts meeting the above Safety requirements may participate as long as: b. As the ‘representative party’, that Club member makes all ‘race’ decisions (strategy and tactics). 3. CLASSES: PHRF NS (Single Headsail) and Cruising (each Class will have its own start). LYC and the Race Committee reserve the right to split Classes as required based on (a) the number of entries in a Class, and (b) PHRF standard splits. Decision and notification procedures will be explained in the Sailing Instructions.
4. ENTRY FEES: $15 USSA members, $20 non-USSA members. Race entries due by Friday, 7 Sep 2007 at the skipper’s meeting. Send CBYRA entry forms to: John Ritter, 107 Ivy Arch, Yorktown VA 23693 (Cell: 757-329-6992). Make checks payable to Langley Yacht Club, and designate the Club the vessel will be representing. b. For skippers racing in the Cruising Class, LYC will consult with the Race Officers for OPCYC and NNSA to assign a courtesy rating which may not be appealed.
5. COURSES: Courses will consist of CCV listed Bay government marks (OPCYC Mark A will be recognized for this event). GPS coordinates will be listed in the Sailing Instructions, and may be found in the CCV annual Racing Guide, or online at the LYC and OPCYC websites (racing pages). b. The RC reserves the right to reposition the start up to 1.0nm to obtain a correct starting line for the conditions. In this event racers can expect the use of a drop mark (‘S’) to define the line. c. Time Limit: 3:00 PM. Boats still on the course at the expiration of time and still racing will be given finishing credit (this changes RRS 35). 6. SKIPPER’S MEETING: Mandatory, 7:30PM Friday, 7 Sep 2007 at the LAFB Marina 7. AWARDS: Standard: 1st/3 2nd/5 3rd/7 4th/12++ per Class. Overall: Tri-service Cup will be presented to the winning Yacht Club’s Commodore. Refer to the Sailing Instructions for a detailed explanation of scoring procedures. 8. SOCIAL: To be announced at the skipper's meeting. |
