scheduled for July 5, 2005. Check back here for schedule changes. At this meeting we will start to plan rides
and activities for the coming spring, summer and fall. We welcome all to attend and bring ideas and

_____________________________________________________________________________________ Here are some links that KVBC
members think are important and helpful: A man here in Illinois has
created one of the most exhaustive
bicycling related websites ever. His
name is Mike Bentley. Every year the KVBC holds an
event ride on the I & M Canal Bike path. We meet in DeKalb and caravan down to Ottawa,
Illinois where we access the trail. We
ride for a few hours and then find a suitable
restaurant for lunch. This year we had
a great time, the weather was great and we found a
very nice place in Utica, IL to have pizza for lunch. A R
E A B I K E S T O R E S We feel very lucky to have
some fine bicycle shops here in our area.
The newest is Blue Moon Bikes on State Street in
downtown Sycamore, IL. They have
everything most bike shops have, plus
some great old bikes on display. In DeKalb, North Central Cyclery
is now located where residents have long known where to find great deals on
bicycles. Additionally, there is Hub
City Bicycle, at 425 Lincoln Hwy, in Rochelle Illinois, where owner Greg Wicklund
is always willing to help people with their cycling needs. The store can be reached at 815.562.2043. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trail
Links... The KVBC loves
bike trails. Here are some links to
some of our favorites and other trail related sites... This
link provides a lot of great general info about Illinois trails. American Bike Trails is an Illinois company
that publishes great books about both recreational trails and mountain bike trails all
over the US. Rails to trails is the national
organization that advocates for the conversion of dead railroad lines into multiuse trails recreational
trails. We enthusiastically suggest you
consider joining. The Illinois Department of
Transportation provides free
bike maps. Take a look. One of the most important
organizations in this state is the League of
Illinois Bicyclists. |
