West Euston poet Norah was born 19th February 1924 and died 13 July 2005. This Prize celebrates her commitment to Camden and her inspiration to the West Euston Time Bank and Third Age Project.

The Norah Platt Poetry Prize has two categories:

ONE PRIZE of £100  for a poet, aged 70 or older
(to celebrate Norah's late start in admitting she was a poet).

THREE EQUAL PRIZES of £20 for a poet aged 12 or younger,
with a matching prize Book voucher given to their school library.
(to encourage other young Norahs to start writing earlier).

starTHE THEME IS  'DREAM'

starALL POEMS MUST BE UNPUBLISHED.

starALL POEMS MUST BE ONE PAGE OR LESS.

starALL POETS MUST LIVE IN THE BOROUGH OF CAMDEN.

starONLY ONE POEM IS ALLOWED PER POET.

starDEADLINE: POEMS MUST ARRIVE AT THE WEST ESTON TIME BANK OFFICE BY 4 p.m. FRIDAY November 16th 2007

IF YOU ARE UNDER 13, please write your name, age, the name of your school and your school's telephone number on the back page of your poem. You are allowed to send only one poem to the contest. We will contact your school if you have won.

IF YOU ARE 70 OR OVER, please write and your name, age and address the back page of the poem and a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like your poem returned. You are allowed to send only one poem to the contest. Please include a telephone number or e-mail address so we can contact you if you have won.

PLEASE NOTE: This prize is only open to Camden residents. You must live in the borough of Camden. If you do not, and  your poem is chosen, you will be disqualified.

Permission to display the poems on National Poetry Day is a condition of entering the contest. Winning poets will have the opportunity to read with our Guest Poet and the Purple Poets at their Time Bank National Poetry Day Reading.

Please keep a copy of your poem; we can not be responsible for lost items. Copyright in all instances remains with the author.
