FESTIVAL
19.08.2007
The Capital Age Festival begins with me.
So Summer comes, with flowers in her hair,
Scents of herbs and spices, drinks and meats.
She sleeps in the noon-day heat.
When you open windows
You hear the summer sounds.
Enjoy!
Jean Watt wrote this poem and performed it on the Main Stage for
the Opening of the Summer Capital Age Festival, South Bank, London, August

WATT DID YOU SAY
04.05.2006
What's your name?
Yes that's it! You said it.
Pardon what's your name?
They think I haven't heard.
J e a n W a t t ... I spell it out.
Oh yes I see: ha! ha!
I've been called Pot Watt!
Watt Pot. Wot no what!
... And Watty
Which isn't quite so bad.
Jean Watt wrote this poem for Berkeley's Tree House Poetry Café,
using the 2006 National Poetry Day theme of 'Identity.' She first performed
this poem at the 2007 Camden Green Fair. |

RUBBISH
May 2006
I came along a public walkway today, and
the cleaner was sweeping up rubbish which so
easily could have been put in a waste bin
by those who do not care, he said to me
look at this, which was dog waste and
plastic bottles, and I agreed it was a mess.
Life on earth is getting worse unless
We can make a stand
For life awareness all around
Jean Watt 's poem was first performed by
the Purple Poets at the Camden Green Fair, on the
Village Green on June 4th,
2006.

POSTCARD POEM FOR CAPITAL AGE FESTIVAL 2007
Mother's
Day
by Jean Watt
23.01.2006
I said once that I wanted to get my own
place, my mother was annoyed at this and said:
What's wrong with it here, isn't this good enough for
you? I never broached the subject again.

Memories of My
Mother
23.03.2006
Always wearing a hat and gloves
When going out, my mother was
Always neat and tidy,
She made her own dresses
And mine as well.
We were good friends and almost
Knew each other's thoughts
So close were we. She's been gone
Many a year now, but I still reckon all
Dates and events from when she died.
Jean Watt wrote this poem for a Purple Poets' workshop exploring
the theme of 'Mothers.' |

My Mother
Said
13.01.2006
Green was an unlucky colour and she
never wore
anything coloured green. Myself, I love the colour
though for years I had my qualms and nervously
would wear green until I clean forgot her sayings
and now I am a green and pleasant land lover of
all shades of green.
