Teaching / Training Experience:

  Electric Motor Manufacturing 101.  1996 - 2001

-  Developed, organized, and presented course.

-  Sponsored by Small Motor and Motion Association (SMMA) in cooperation with the Electric Manufacturing and Coil Winding Association (EMCWA). 

-  One and one half day technical session given annually.

-  Approximately 120 attendees from all over the globe.

-  Objectives:

~  provide knowledge in electric motor manufacturing processes, step by step

~  advance the technology of manufacturing through continuous improvement

~  understand lean/world class manufacturing techniques

 

  Lean/World Class Manufacturing.  1995 - Current.

-  Conduct two-day workshop with simulation exercise.

-  One-hour paper presented at various technical conferences and seminars.

-  Brief discussion of the process elements of lean manufacturing.

 

  Processes, GE Technical Leadership Development Curriculum.  1990 - 1992.

-  One of ten selected people of GE businesses to give this course.

-  Developed for newly hired potential fast track college graduates in the Manufacturing Management Program (MMP).

-  Purpose:

~  apply a process (process over programs, i.e., on-going vs. one time) perspective to improve all aspects of manufacturing in the context of total business performance.

-  Objectives:

~  examine methods for overcoming organizational barriers

~  clarify how various roles may change to support process improvements

~  present tools and techniques that aid in process improvement

~  understand importance of timely, accurate, relevant information to analyzing and improving processes

~  demonstrate the role of teamwork through glider exercise

 

  Organizational Excellence, GE Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing.  1988 - 1990.

-  Developed, organized and presented three day white collar best practices workshop and user’s conference for all of GE’s businesses and some non-GE businesses.  Included several industry and university experts as presenters.

-  Purpose:

~  understand white-collar productivity and quality based upon best practices and lessons learned.

-  Some modules were on workflow and work distribution, customer service, quality, measurements, ergonomics such as cells, project planning, self-managing work teams, organizational structure, and recognition and rewards.

-  Approximately 250 people attended workshops.

-  Implemented best practices at several GE white-collar “factories” such as payroll accounting, accounts payable and GE Financial Services tax department.

  Presented other papers at technical conferences on robots, cell manufacturing, abrasive belt machining, and plant consolidation.
