Jamzen is almost a peninsula, with the Carribean waters and reef along one side,
scenic Cousins Cove on another side and a tidal stream on the third side. The Fourth side
is where you get off the road and come in. There is an exquisite swimming hole, that Guests
from all parts of the World rave about. Most of our guests in the past are from Germany.
But there have been quite a few from the US and Canada, Spain and Italy.

It is hard to imagine the Jamaican Specialities that have been served here,
but let's try.....Of course, there's Ackee and Saltfish, (the national dish), served
with original fried dumplin's. Callaloo & Cheese Omelet. Lobster ala James.
Steamed Fresh Fish. Parrot. Grouper. Snook. Conch Soup. I think I have to stop now
and get something to eat...

I wish I had a better picture of an Ackee. It is really a thing to see.
The orinial trees came from India (I think). The trees grow all over
Jamzen, and it is a rarity when we have to go out to buy ackee, although
there is a season for it. Actually there are several seasons during the year.
Ackee can be eaten raw, (Faith loves to take some raw ones to school), but
most people parboil them, and then sautee them with some onions, tomatoes, spices.
It sort of resembles scrambled eggs in a different World. The raw ackee resembles
something else, which I can't mention here (the children are present),
but you free to speculate. |

I don't know if you can see the tongue-in-cheek smile from Huck (above left), but I remember
him having a pretty sweet and mellow time. He is from Germany too, and if you
know him, Hail him from from the people at Jamzen. The next picture is Crazy Jim and Lauren
along with Mrs. Mac....what else can be said. The next three guys are infamous for
having parties in Cousins Cove. I think one is in a monastery now. Oh, this last picture
is me and mommy. |

When you want to move around, there are some local, local activities, and then some not
so local. First, if you've never been to Jamaica before, Oh No! A Virgin. Well sometimes
its better that way. But Dunnes River Falls is a far trip (2.5 hours) but well worth it
if you love nature. Nearby is Ran's Cave, an historic Arawak Cave that was mined in the ole'
days for bat guana. Rocky is the local guide and will give you an interesting tour. The are
also several nice nature walks into the hills beyond. D. Brown has a nice shop up the road,
and there also Joe's Coffee Shop on the Cove and Friday's (no, no that Fridays).

If you are interested in Rastafaria, tell us. This is a personal thing that needs to be arranged according to your understandings. But if you want to go up into the bush and see how Jah is, maybe we can help. Morris, the carver, is an excellent Ital chef and carver. He can make a wonderful salad set from cocunut shell for you. | |||||
