When: The first and third Saturday of every month. (Occasional exceptions). Round dancing begins at 7:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. when square dancing begins, and dancing will alternate between round and square dancing until 10:30 p.m. Serving of refreshments is continuous after 8:45 p.m.
Where: At the Sunny Acres Barn located 5 miles east of Marion, Ohio on State Route 309. (One mile east of Rt. 98 or two miles west of Caledonia on Rt. 309). The address is: 4600 Harding Highway East, Caledonia, Ohio.
Level of Dancing: Western Square Dancing club level is Mainstream Plus. Round Dancing varies to all levels.
Guests: The Hicks and Chicks welcome other clubs to travel to Marion and steal our banner. We will travel to your club to retrieve the banner very quickly. The Sunny Acres Barn is a very excellent place to dance in. Please contact the Banner Chairman to make arrangements. (P.S. The Hicks and Chicks have traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska to steal their banner). For our regular dances, the cost is $10 per couple, or $5 for singles, and callers and cuers are welcome at no charge.
Dress: Western style attire is preferred during the months of October through May. There will be special dances, i.e. Hobo, Halloween, 50's, Beach Party, and Outer Space Dances, where you can dress-up special for the occasion. The Summer months of June, July, August and September is casual dress (to keep cool).
The Sunny Acres Barn: A large farm barn has been converted to a fantastic square dance land complete with wood floor, and decorated over the years with pictures and memorabilia which requires hours to see and read them all. It has a mini-stage for the caller and cuer to work from and a separate room for serving refreshments. There is plenty of room for parking, including large busses. The floor can accommodate over 12 squares. Photos of The Sunny Acres Barn are at the end of the page.
Lessons: Sunday nights from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. during the winter months, holidays excepted.
