MH-53E Sea Dragon
Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Eighteen, the first airborne mine countermeasures squadron in the Naval Reserve Force, was commissioned on October 4th, 1986.   The Norsemen of HM-18 initially flew the Sikorsky RH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter.   In December of 1993, the Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon was introduced to HM-18.   The Norsemen provided vertical onboard delivery, vertical replenishment, search and rescue and airborne mine countermeasures capabilities.
HM-18 also made history in August 1994, as it completed a short deployment onboard the USS PONCE (LPD-15); the first shipboard detachment for the reserve AMCM community.
HM-18 was disestablished on 4 March 1995 and integrated with Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen (HM-14).
