Let your Tek portable scope stand up proud.

If you have an older Tektronix portable scope, there is a strong likelihood that you need these feet.

The rubber compound, especially in the earlier 453 and 454 scopes has usually turned brittle, cracked, and fallen off.

No, these scopes did NOT have metal feet.  If you think your scope does, you are seeing the alloy insert that used to be covered in rubber.

Tektronix 400 Series Feet—For Sale

Alloy inserts, or nuts, from the center of the feet.

The Tektronix part numbers for these feet are:

       *  348-0080-00

       *  348-0080-01

Some of the scopes that used these feet are:

       453,  454,  453A,  454A,  464,  465,  465B

And, I think but am not sure:

       434, 475,  485, and others

If you have tried to get replacement feet, you probably know original feet are very rare, and nothing at the hardware store adequately replaces them.

So, like a normal foolish hobbyist, I set out to reproduce these feet for my collection of Tek scopes.

After considerable experimentation, and a fair amount of expense, I’ve been able to regularly cast very good feet on the alloy inserts.

They are cast from hard (Shore 90) urethane rubber.  They feel and bounce just like the originals.

Then the day swiftly arrived when I ran out of the alloy inserts.  Luckily a fellow hobbyist in Great Britain came to my aid.  As an amateur machinist, Ben Clarke is able to create perfect reproduction nuts.

(He did have some trouble posting them through the Royal Mail, so we have agreed not to call them “nuts” anymore.)

The reproductions are not perfect, but they are perfectly usable.  The top surface that mounts to the scope will usually have some small surface bubbles (see pix).  I guarantee there are no defects on the surface that shows, and no bubbles that affect the strength or usability.

If you a a stickler for authenticity, then you should know the reproduction feet are a bit darker and glossier than the originals. (see pix)

SORRY!

We have finished reproducing feet for the indefinite future.  (I need all the remaining.)

THANK YOU everyone for all the positive feedback
