The 293rd Meeting of the Morris Ring of England

Hartley  Morris 2002

HURRAH, HURRAH, HERE COMES THE JUBILEE!

Well, it’s here at last, the long-awaited glorious Golden Jubilee. No, not hers, ours! For it was
exactly 50 years ago that the Hartley Morris Men were formed out of the tattered remains
of the pre-war Stansted side, coincidentally at about the same time that our present Queen
came to the throne – which is why we wear the colours red, white and blue and occasionally
do a dance called “Queens Delight”.

Mind you, we have always had a very good working relationship with H.M,and on this joint
special occasion we have come to an amicable agreement. She will hold the majority of her
celebrations during the summer months and we will hold ours in the Autumn.

Yes the Hartley Ring Meeting will be held in
Wrotham, Kent, over the weekend

30th August - 1st September 2002.

We will be host to 160ish Morris men from all over the country, who will be joining us to tour
the towns and villages of West Kent during the weekend.
Guest of honour
As we will be touring through several Boroughs in the County, rather than invite a local dignitary
we went to the top. Chris Capon, Chairman of Kent County Council has accepted our invitation
to join us at the feast and welcome our guests to our illustrious County.
