Hooden Horses or Hobby Horses
This cutting was found by Terry Heaslip while researching the Darent Valley Plays.
It talks about the use of the Fool and Horse in a similar way as they
are used today, but
I don't see where the dancing comes into it. There seems to be a confusion
between the plays and the dance. May be there was, or possible journalists
were as
knowledgeable about the Morris then as they are today.
Hartley are accompanied by a Kentish Hooden Horse, which is a different
tradition to the Morris.
