Foothill Country Dancers promotes traditional New England
contra dancing in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills. Contra dancing is fun,
inclusive, and friendly. No experience is necessary--all dances are
taught and prompted,
and no partner is required. The music is always live.
FCD sponsors the annual 12-hour sprung-floor dance festival
Fall Has Sprung, and two regular
monthly dances:

11th Annual Fall Has Sprung
Saturday, November 1 noon to midnight
Grass Valley Veterans' Hall
255 S. Auburn St, Grass Valley, CA
This year we're ecstatically pleased to have the
Moving Violations from New England join us as the headline band. They are incredibly fun to dance
to and are widely recognized as one of the best contra bands in the country.
"This wonderfully talented quintet of players," says Sing Out! magazine, "revolutionized the New England dance
scene by playing traditional tunes in strange and wonderful ways."
Calling with Moving Violations will be Nils Fredland,
probably the smoothest and most polished caller
around. The late afternoon slot will be more than ably filled by The Fiddlerats with Eric Anderson and southern
California caller Jeremy Korr. And of
course our own Hot Cider with Joyce Miller will kick things off with a bang at noon.
