Visiting Kathy Garrison City of Industry, California Kathy takes me back to my homes in Palm Springs, CA

I arrived in Hacienda Heights, CA on June 5 and met a long-time fan, Kathy Garrison.  Man was she excited to see me.  She showed me her house, which is under renovation, but she has me everywhere in that house!!!!!

Kathy took me to her office at Nutro Products, where they make premium dog and cat food.  I met some of her co-workers and got to check out her impressive collection of ‘me’!!  She has pictures on her desk hutch  a calendar, clock, paperweight, stationery and, best of all, her computer is loaded with pictures of me and my music, which she listens to all day long.

Saturday evening, June 10, Kathy and I went to her niece,  Stacy’s wedding.  It was a great time, though Stacy got a little bit frisky with me but I had fun hanging at the table with  Kathy’s friends, Tina, Jim, JoAnn and Loretta .

On Friday Kathy is taking me to Palm Springs for a few days and she promises to take me around to some of my favorite places.

Well, here we are in Palm Springs.  Lord Almighty, I feel my temperature rising!  Man is it hot down here!!  Kathy & her friend JoAnn have a nice time-share condo just a short drive from my Chino Canyon house and the house on Ladera Circle.  Kathy called Laura, who is taking care of the Ladera Circle house, but she wasn’t there.  As soon as we get a return phone call, we can schedule our visit.

Had a great weekend; friends Daniel & Mary Young and Candace, Sue & Connie Killian and JoAnn’s family were here for a b-b-q and swimming.

It’s Monday and we finally got the call from Laura, so we’re off to Ladera Circle.  Man, it’s good to be back; sure brings back a lot of memories!!!

We found Laura, she had other guests she was showing around so we went on in.  I just had to go right over and visit with Scatter on the table,  man did that bring up some hilarious thoughts and memories!!!!!

Then we went over and checked out the jukebox

Then we headed upstairs to the bedroom.  I decided to call Billy Reed’s to let them know I would be stopping by later on that evening. Then we went outside to check out the pool.  It sure would have been great to take a dip, but we had to leave.  It was sure great fun checking out the old place.  I guess they are always having some big event there; in fact, I just missed the annual Honeymoon Weekend that is held there every May.

Well, we’re off to the Chino Canyon house.  I really wanted to see it; Kathy tells me it really looked great after they finished the addition I ordered, but there isn’t anyone living there now.  Just as we get to the house and are turning around to park,  some guy comes out and is looking at us kinda suspiciously.  Kathy explains why we are there and, hey, he offers to take us inside. Well, I’m sure excited as all get out; I’m going to get to check the place out!!!!!

Oh my God, this is a shock – the place is totally empty!!!!!!  We are all in shock.  Kathy told me the house had been sold a time or two, but no one expected it to be completely bare.  Not 1 stick of furniture at all.  The ONLY thing that even suggests I was ever there was a post-a-note on the fireplace mantle; giving a little recording history.  What a bummer; no reason to stick around here!!!!

We went back to the condo to try to regroup after the shock of Chino Canyon; man we are all bummed about that!!!!!  It’s time for dinner, so we’re off to Billy Reed’s – my stomach is rumblin’ already,  just thinking about it .

We sneak in quietly, but we didn’t need to worry; they’re all busy with the dance lessons going on so we’re checking out the specials.  Might as well check out the menu, too.  I don’t know about the girls, but I’m gonna have me a big ol’ steak!!!!!

I’ve had a great time here in Palm Springs.  Met a bunch of great people, had fun, good b-b-q and caught up on some of my favorite places.  I love meeting people who have loved me from the start, and still feel that way today; what an awesome feeling that gives me.  But I have to say good-bye because I have a lot of ground to cover yet.  I know it’s going to be tough for Kathy to see me go, as she has waited soooooo long to get to meet me; she told me it was her lifelong dream to meet me some day.  But we will meet again, that I know.

Being in Palm Springs brought back sweet memories.
Visiting Cheri Woods in Southern California Woodland Hills, California

I love the EPE Elvis Meet-up!

I arrived the end of July, 2006, to TCB with my lifelong fan since 1956, Cheri Woods, who lives in the San Fernando Valley with her family. Although we never met, we have many mutual friends, which she wrote about in her Hollywood tell-all biography, "Death Row Madam." (Hmm.. this may be even more fun than I  thought..)

I felt right at home there, especially since Cheri has my former Beverly Hills home's furnishings in her house! Here's a picture of Cheri & me in her "Elvis den." As you can see, she's wearin' my former black leather jacket & my "EAP" initial necklace.

She also owns my chairs, lamp, afghan, pillows, & even my dirty sheets! Man, what's even more scary is, she has my DNA- strands of my hair & my fingerprints! Who is that cat with the BIG HEAD who looks just like me?

After recoverin' from the shock of seein' my head displayed (or should I say "displaced") in Cheri's Elvis den, Saturday I had a gig at the official EPE Elvis meet-up.

Besides meetin' all my loyal fans who were shocked to learn I was still alive, I also saw my ol' friend Gloria Pall, the showgirl from my movie "Jailhouse Rock," famous for the much photographed  "legs" shot at the bar.

Talkin' about legs, I can't find my feet. Maybe they're in Cheri's Elvis den, too. Here's our group photo- lots of legs and no-feet flat Elvis! (At least I got my head.)

Lordy, lordy! What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It turns out Cheri's neighbor is the family of my ol' friend, Dorsey Burnette, who I grew up with back in Lauderdale Court, in Memphis. Both Dorsey ("Hey, little one," "Tall oak tree") & his brother, Johnny ("Dreamin'," "You're 16") sadly passed away at an early age.

Here Cheri & I are at the Burnette's home with Dorsey's lovely wife, Alberta, & Mark (one of his 6 sons.) As you can see, Dorsey is there in spirit, behind us. (I kept hearin' his voice tellin' me I was only there in spirit, too, but I knew he was just pullin' my leg- well, if I had one, just like when we were kids.)

Our last stop was to visit my daughter, Lisa Marie, & my grandchildren, who are also Cheri's neighbors. Here's a photo of me in front of Lisa's gated compound. I can't believe I'm a grandfather, but ol' flat Elvis is still lookin' good!

On July 31 Cheri told me I would always be her #1 man, but had to share me with the world, so she shoved me in an envelope, told me I was going back to Bev, & mailed me off. All the way back, I checked mysself to make sure the former "Death Row Madam" didn't take any more of my body parts....

I am visiting Tina Metz
and her family

Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin

THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT TOUR!

I sure had a great time in this city called Sheboygan Falls.   The very first night in town (after all the hugging and screaming of 'I can't believe Elvis is HERE!!'), Jessica (Tina's 8 year old daughter), Natalie (Tina's 5 year old daughter), Steve (Tina's husband) and Tina (HUGE FAN of mine!) all played a game of Monopoly.   Now, this wasn't just any game of Monopoly-it was all about me!!!   After hours of playing, I was tired and went to bed.   Too tired to TCB and win again.

The next day Tina went to work at US Bank-I have always had a thing for bankers (reminds me of the teller I was dating in '77-sweet girl).   While she was TCBing there, I had fun with the family and her favorite cat AJ.   Black was the wrong color to wear with him-he is all
 white!!!!

While she was TCBing there, I had fun with the family and her favorite cat AJ.   Black was the wrong color to wear with him-he is all
 white!!!!

For supper that night, they fried out (grilling or BBQ in other parts of the world) a thing called a brat which was served on a hard roll.   Sounds strange boy let me tell you for sure, but it was delicious!!!!!

The highlight of my trip was when we hopped in the car and drove about 20 minutes southwest of Sheboygan Falls to a little tiny town called Random Lake.  I have always said that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and now I'm flattered beyond belief!!!  Garry Wesley was there trying to be me-WOW!   That cat is good I tell you for sure!!!!   Tina, Garry and myself all posed for a photo after his show.   Garry and Tina exchanged rings-Tina gave her TCB ring away and she got Garry's Aloha ring.   Garry spent the rest of the day showing off his pride possession to one and all-I don't blame him either-it is a great piece of jewelry!!!!   Well, now that I know how much Tina, Garry and the whole family love me, it is time to go on my next journey.    Keep TCBing in my honor.

Imagine this, here I am on velvet!

Thank you Suzanne for a fun visit to Florida.

Having fun with Brandi Paustian

Athens, Alabama

My Fans are the best!

I arrived in Athens, Alabama to visit with Brandi Paustian.  Man that little Will couldn't wait to get his hands on me.  I thought it was soo cute that Will asked for my CD to be played when he went to bed that night.  Brandi said that she has to play it for him every night before he goes to sleep.

The next day Brandi had to work so I relaxed around her house.  I even had my very own room that everyone refers to as the "Elvis room".  It was a little wild sleeping in a room with a big stand-up of me in my gold lame suit standing next to the bed.

On Wednesday Brandi and her friend, Tammy Smith, took me over to Huntsville.  We went to the Space and Rocket Center first.

Man those were some big rockets.

Next we headed over to see the Von Braun Civic Center.  I last played there on September 6, 1976.  They sure have changed things around there alot!

While there, Will and Tammy's daughter, Bailey, took me over to Big Spring park where we fed the ducks.

On the way back to Athens Brandi and Tammy told me a story about a lady that lived in their town that once upon a time had the whole town convinced that we were getting married.  This lady announced it in the paper and rented a Church.  The word is that the whole town showed up that day just on the off chance that I might actually be there!  Of course I asked them to drive me by the Church.

When we got back to Tammy's I hung out and played for a few minutes with Will and Tammy's son, Colby.

I sure did have an exciting time with Brandi and Tammy.  On my last day there I even helped them with their yard sale they had to raise money for their Elvis week trip.

Visiting Cindy Weigold

Fort Wayne, Indiana

HANGIN' OUT

I arrived safe & sound at Cindy's house in Fort Wayne, In. After a nice welcome and posing for pictures with Cindy, I settled in for a few days of rest in the warm Indiana sunshine. Boy was I mistaken! Cindy proceeded to drag me along with her all over God's green earth.

On July 19th she took me to se Alice Cooper perform in Elkhart,  Indiana. Man oh man was that a trip! I mean, people thought I was far out back in the day. We hung out after the show while Cindy talked to Alice's band members, his daughter Calico Cooper and his opening band.

After a night in a hotel, we headed back to Fort Wayne just long enough to grab some clean clothes and then headed off to lovely Dayton, Ohio where Cindy made me sit through yet another Alice show. She seen him 4 times that week, and I must say I really enjoyed the shows too. He sure knows how to thrill an audience.

Cindy  loves the guy, after me, he is like her favorite, so I will deal with her constantly talking to me about him.

On July 23rd we went to Fairmount, Indiana to see James Deans grave, his high school and his farm. It sure was something. I posed for a picture by his grave and we headed off to Fort Wayne. Cindy managed to lose 800 pictures on her memory card that week, so I don't have a picture of me at the grave. What a bummer!

We also went to see the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. I played there 3 times, so it was nice to be back.

I sure enjoyed my time visiting with this crazy chic from Indiana. I'm still in shock that she loves me so much that she has 4 tattoos dedicated to me, 3 portraits and one of my name! She must really love me.

Now I am off to visit another friend and see what adventures they have in store for me, though after a week with Cindy, I feel like I need some rest.

Thank you for the invitation Cindy I had a very nice time! This is just a temporary good bye since you invited me to come back, I will see you again in a couple of months!

Back in Indiana to visit Loralyn Curry and her family Bloomington, Indiana It was nice to surprise see Kim and Rob again!
I arrived in Bloomington, Indiana this July, to visit with Loralyn and her family. I liked to never get outta that envelope though, that girl was cleaning non-stop, you'd think a "King" was coming to visit or somethin....finally after much teasing from some of her friends, Loralyn finally set me free. And so bagan my adventure.

My first day was a busy one. We drove up to the Indianapolis airport to pick up some of my old friends from Rhode Island, Kim and Rob. OH, it was sooo good to see those two again. It was also good to be in that airport again. I received an award there once, although someone lost the footage, Loralyn informed me it has been found again.

We then packed the luggage up and headed to a lunch spot in Indianapolis where we met up with Roger, Lor's husband. He was nice enough to take a few minutes off work and join us. We had a lot of fun there, and a delicious burger too. Those girls did not stop talking the entire time. So good to see old friends getting together again.

After an enjoyable drive, we finally arrived in Bloomington. Oh boy, was it ever good to be here again. I have a huge following in Indiana and those Bloomington fans loved my concerts. Talk about Hoosier Hospitality! I stayed in a hotel there once, the security was so tight, that the hotel owner and manager had no idea who was booked into the Presidential Suite.

Back at Lor's house, we were greeted by these two crazy looking dogs. She called the "pugs" and their names were Cheech and Chong but they were weird lookin dogs man, weird.

After a little bit of relaxation, a knock arrived at the door. That Kim and Rob had ordered some FRESH and LIVE lobsters to be delivered. What a kind thing that was to do! But,not liking seafood, I was really scared to get near that box...it was making noises!

Finally the box was opened and I woulda liked to run back to Memphis when I saw what was in it! Those lobsters were even more weird than those things called pugs. Kim and Rob took over the kitchen and stuck those puppies in a huge pot. I gotta admit, when the lobsters were cooked and that champagne bottle was brought out, I felt much better. Roger and Loralyn had Dom Perignon ready to serve with the lobsters, can ya imagine? Special times, man....special times.

The next day was a pool birthday party for Kim. We all kicked back on the deck and baked in the sun. This black leather suit can get a little hot in that Indiana sun so Loralyn's daughter, Natalie, took me in the pool for a quick dip.....how kind of her. That deck has so many flowers and plants on it I almost felt like I was in Hawaii again. When they broke out the lunch I was amazed to see some good ole Memphis BBQ that Loralyn had ordered from Corky's. This internet is a fascinating thing, you can get stuff shipped from anywhere anymore. We had a wonderful BBQ lunch and finished off with birthday cake for Kim. A great day indeed.

After a few rides around town to see the Assembly Hall where I played, and the hotel that I stayed in, I had to go back to Bev and Sandi. I had a fun time in Indiana and cannot wait to get back!

Visiting Joann Smith

Jacksonville, Florida

Joann, thanks for the memories

Here I am in Jacksonville, FL at Joann's, if she just lets me in, man this FL sun is hot

This is the FL Theater where I played 6 shows in 2 days Aug. 10th, 11th, 1956, wow! Where does the time go? I done a total of 14  shows in this city.

Here we are at the Florida Theater. My name is up in lights again. Man sure does not seem like 50 years.

Joann said I just had to see what it was like to sit in the same seat she was sitting in for one of my shows that weekend

Joann showing is me the front of the theater. Back in '56 I only came and went in the back door. Man, the girls would have torn me to shreds out front.

Finally go some food, boy does Joann love these Subways, and all those gals loved me but were so darn shy, none of them would pose with me, even Glenda ducked.
This is where the Gator Bowl was when I played  it. How it has changed. I had to crawl out though a window in the dressing room  after a show here one night, man! the girls had gone wild.
This is the big bronze  Jacksonville Jag  cat, behind me the team was practicing
and I offered to throw a few but  they would not let me.

Being a vet I just  had to visit the Jacksonville
Veterans Wall. It is for vets from WW1 to present, really impressive but way to long with so many names.

You know it is so hard to say good bye, but I had to, so Joann and Glenda took me to Carrabbas for Italian food to celebrate, but the FL Theater wants me back for Elvis day in Sept so I told Joann not to be to sad as hopefully I would make if back.
Well here I am back with Joann in Florida for an event.

Would believe Joann met me at the state line  when I came back to Jacksonville for the Elvis Event at the FL Theater.

The sun was setting as we arrived in Jacksonville the day before my big day event. Can you believe I am still being honored? Gotta rest up for tomorrow! Got to give the people a good show

Here it is ,The big day "Elvis Sunday" celebrating having appeared here 50 years ago. I was here for 6 shows on Aug 10 and 11 of '56 .......(Done 14 shows in this city,) but the theater was not available at that time so we celebrated  today. What a day  full house with a live ETA, souvenir booths and the movie,  Viva Las Vegas ,with the lovely Ann Margaret

Here I am, had my own table for autographs and pictures. That's a picture of me then, on one of the posters like they had when I was appearing there.

Here I am with Rick Marino  the ETA he  loved having his picture with me.

Here I am with Lorie the Manager. She is such a sweetie! She was super to work with, Thank you, thank you very much, it was a pleasure to be there with you!

Here is one of the many  young fans that came to see me. It sure make s me feel good to see the young ones who love my music and movies like this young man Robert Marsland does.  We had a mixed crowd here  young like Robert to  seniors who have been with me since  I first started . Man what a good feeling to still be loved like this.

Visiting Margaret Petrovich and Family Allentown, Pennsylvania

I think she likes me!!

Margaret took me to Atlantic City with them for a day... unfortunately, they would not let her take any pictures me by my slot machines, so here I am with the Elvis memorabilia she picked up on the boardwalk.  I did sit and gamble with Margaret though and even brought her a little bit of luck.

Since Margaret had to work most of the  week, I just spent time hanging out and relaxing in her Elvis room.  I have had  so much fun with everyone else I had visited with that I didn't mind just chillin.   Here I am with Margaret's Elvis juke box listening to some good tunes.. My music of course.

I thought it was pretty cool that Margaret had a life size stand up of me to keep me company while she was at work... here I am  posing with myself!  So very handsome the two of us!!

We spent a lot of time talking about Margaret's last trip to Graceland and how she can hardly wait to go back for the 30th.  Here I'm checking out a picture of Margaret and her family from the 25th Anniversary visit.  Margaret  told me how much it means to her to be able to go and visit my home.

Weathers been pretty good here lately so I took sometime to hang out at the pool in Margaret's backyard...   While hanging at the pool, I took a fancy to my Jeep and just had to have his picture taken with it.

Lastly Elvis spent a little time with one of Margaret's dogs.. this is Roxy and me.  Roxy seems a little leary of me, but at least she didn't try to eat me like the other two dogs.

Visiting Lacy Mitchell

Smithville, AR I had a great time with Lacy  and Luke, thanks guys!

Well after quite a week in Memphis, Tennessee I headed two hours across the Mississippi River to visit Lacy at her small hometown in Arkansas. Smithville, only has about 73 people in the town and Lacy was a little worried that I would be bored in an area that is mostly wooded land, back roads, a three-way stop and more cows than people, but to Lacy’s surprise I was thrilled to be back in the country—it reminded me of Tupelo when I was little.
After arriving at Lacy’s house, I relaxed on her bed and looked around her room at all the stuff she has of me and relating to me—what a collection. Knowing that her and other fans collect things of me is really humbling even after all this time—and Lacy is one of the younger fans.

“Man, I see guitar over there to my left….looks like a great opportunity to do some jamming here at Lacy’s.”

Despite her town being so small, the region is filled with history of my early career when I started out in the music business and Lacy thought I might like to take a trip down memory lane to see a few of those early spots where I performed in 1955.

One of the first spots Lacy and her boyfriend Luke took me was Batesville which is about 45 minutes from Smithville. It was Aug. 6, 1955 that I performed here for their annual White River Water Carnival.
This is the original stage which was built in the late 1930s. Although I know Lacy had good intentions about bringing me here, coming back reminds me of the welcome I received. It wasn’t the best.

I didn’t even do the second set I was getting paid for, and I only did four songs during the first set. Some of the crowd just didn’t like me and my singing I suppose—for whatever reason—and they left. I don’t know why though….I would have never done anything that would make me look bad or make my mama be disappointed in me. I guess some of these folks just weren’t hip to the new sound they were hearing or the fact that I can’t help but to move and feel the music while onstage.   They just didn’t understand. However, there were a few there that did like me.

To show you how early it was in my career, Scotty, Bill and I didn’t even have first billing—the Duke of Paducah did.
“Ut oh! I see Lacy—I think this gal might like me or somethin’…it looks like she may attack me….  Jerry…Joe…guys….where are ya? Hurry I think she might get me…” You’d think by now that I’d be used to girls who look like they are about to jump the stage."

Luke, Lacy and I pose for a picture at the old stage---say “CHEESE!

Later that evening—oh about midnight or so, we made a venture to Wal-Mart and lo’ and behold guess what we found…

I sure did enjoy working with Ann-Margret in that. What a gal! “C’mon everybody and turn your heads to the left…” I had to not get too loud while singing…I might have drawn a crowd…well as much of a crowd that there could be at a Wal-mart at that hour. Even the woman working the check-out line had a t-shirt with me on it. I tell ya my fans ARE really everywhere, and I love them all.

The next day Luke and Lacy drove me to another spot where I performed close to where they each live. The Silver Moon Club—what once use to be a rowdy place is now a much quieter version of what it used to be only now there is no drinking or smoking allowed.

I performed here in the fall of 1955. I was received better by this crowd lemme’ tell ya—so much I came back for a second time.

The original building was destroyed by fire in the 1980s I believe Lacy said; however much of the tile and foundation is still where it once stood. It is nice that they rebuilt it so other generations could enjoy it. Those who would go on to be major stars performed here in those early days and the locals who are still around sure do have stories they could tell about one of us who either played here or at Porky’s Rooftop and the King of Clubs both of which are not far from the Silver Moon Club.

Lacy said her and Luke, who love dressing in 1950s clothing, try to come dancing at the Silver Moon when they can on Saturday nights when Ms. Jeanie and the Guys perform. Even Sonny Burgess, one of my old label-mates from SUN Records, performs there with Ms. Jean when he isn’t traveling elsewhere for shows.  Sonny has remained in Newport, where he was raised. He has stayed true to his hometown, much like me and my beloved Memphis. There’s no place like home—even to us musicians.

I got to spend a few minutes with Sonny after one of his shows the next night in a nearby town close to Newport. He was there with his band the Pacers. They began recording in 1955 at SUN and had many songs on the label including “Red-Headed Woman,” “We Wanna Boogie,” and “My Bucket’s Got A Hole In It,” among others.
“How about them good ole’ days, Sonny….?”

Luke also gets up onstage and performs a few numbers with them when he is there at the Silver Moon or other clubs where they perform. That boy sure can ROCK! He has his own gigs as well. He plays a mean piano—well he plays just about anything really well—Hot Dog! I was so glad we got to jam for a little….it was just like back in the old days.... ”Get it man, get it!”

I really enjoyed my stay with Lacy…she is such a sweet girl—those Memphis-born gals are something else—Luke sure is a lucky guy. I’m so glad I got to meet Luke. He is one heckuva’ a musician and boy does he have style to match. I looked in his closet at his place and I wanted his blue suit, black and white shoes and his watch—“it was shiny man!” “My boy! My boy!” He’s going to go a long way I just know it. “Don’t give up son, you’ll make it! You’ve got the talent!”

Spending some time with Casey DeFalco Millville, NJ

Check out those cool  Elvis Slots

Here we are at Cape May Point, NJ. with Casey's  nephew Frankie & her sister Carol.
The sign in front of this ship  in the background reads:

S.S. Atlantus:  Remains of experimental concrete ship.  One of twelve built during World War 1.  Proven impractical after several Trans-Atlantic trips because of weight.  Broke loose during storm (June 1926).  Went aground. Attempts to free her were frutile.

This is Casey and me in front of a bunker at Cape May Pt. State Park, NJ.

Here I am on the Wildwood, NJ boardwalk with Casey and Faren--Casey's son's girlfriend.

The girls played this quarter machine but they didn't win, maybe next time. Maybe I should try it and bring them some good luck

Thanks ladies I had a good time but I have to move on to my next gig.

Visiting Gabe and Betty Rodriguez

Miami, Florida

THANKS GABE AND BETTY

My first trip back to Miami in many years, I sat in with a local group and boy it was fun to get back on stage. We went over some old material and the audience was very receptive. I still got baby!!
I needed to work out the songs with gabe, I just told him to keep his eyes on me all the time.  I can't predict my moves on stage I told him. But he did all right!!

Working out the final details with my rhythm section, it's Tutt-Scheff any way you look at it. Sorry wrong guys!!!

The guys did a good job backing me up, it sure was great to get back on track playing the music I love. I Signed lot's of autographs and the ladies in Miami are very cute!! Heading to the Beaches in the morning to relax it was a very long Elvis week.

I had so much fun in Memphis during Elvis week with Betty & Gabe that I came home to Miami with them to spend a little more time with them and get some R&R.

To the Beach we go for some fun in the sand.!!!!

Here in Miami Beach for some needed R AND R after a long Elvis Week 2006. I would have made it to the Beaches earlier this week but Tropical storm Ernesto rained on my parade.

Here I am witting out a check for the waterfront Condo I just bought here on Miami Beach, a mere 3 million dollars but what a view from the 29th floor.

Here I am relaxing on the white sands of Miami Beach working on my great tan, I also took my Bongos and Guitar to Jam I can't help it. Love my Elvis Beach chair and towel I picked them up at my store in the plaza while in Memphis during Elvis Week, I just love all the merchandise they keep putting out. Boy I really look good on this towel !!

After a nice rest I decided to take a walk on the Beach and reflect on my wonderful life.
Hey wait a minute how about a "Clam Bake" later  Mmmmmmmm

Here I am with my buddy Mike the life guard a huge fan he was listening to Elvis Radio 13 when I pulled up to the station he was singing some of my  tunes but the boy can't sing. Maybe he will let me rescue one of the beautiful girls on the beach. Who would give better mouth to mouth him or me?

As I was continuing my walk on the beach I ran into some local natives who were in trouble they needed some one to rub sun tan lotion on them, I had to volunteer since I do come from the volunteer state, this will be extremely hard work and what a way not make living, but someone has got to do it!! Anyway I thought I was here to rest it's not easy being me!! My Boy, My Boy, My Boy!!!

Jerry Schilling Book Signing
"Me And A Guy Named Elvis"

My buddy Jerry Schilling finally wrote a book about me, and it is really good!

Decided to go to Jerry's Book Signing in Vegas - which practically turned into a mini reunion.  Look at this = ran into Joe Esposito!  I noticed buddy Sam Thompson was there also!

Visiting Cheryl Lackey

Pasadena, Maryland

That was very interesting History

When I arrived in Pasadena Maryland, I was greeted with so much love just like everywhere else I have been.  My fan and new friend Cheryl introduced me to her friend Wendy, who is also a fan.  Those two little girls took me to quite a few sites.  Our first stop was to The Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland.  It was nice to see that beautiful city, and pay my respects to the World War II Memorial.

We enjoyed some Maryland steamed crabs at a place called Hemingways.  It's located right along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

It sure was nice to take in a little history at Fort McHenry in Baltimore.  We got to see a muskett demonstration with men in full uniform.  That sure was interesting to learn about The War of 1812.  This is where Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star Spangled Banner", after seeing that beautiful American flag waving proudly.  We sure did enjoy the view.  It was perfect for a little kiss from Cheryl

Check out this canyon.  My boy, My boy, now that's what I call power.

When the day was said and done, it was time for me to go.  The ladies were sad to see me go, but I told them "Til we meet again."

Thank you Cheryl for your hospitality,
I had a great time.
Visiting Megan Murphy in New Jersey and she takes me back to New York New York Thank you Megan for showing me around New York again!
I Visited the Warwick Hotel where I stayed in 1956 for my Stage Show appearances, 1/28/56, 2/4/56, 2/11/56, 2/18/56, 3/17/56, 3/24/56).

Also on July 1, 1956 after my appearance on the Steve Allen Show, I was interviewed on the phone for the Hy Gardner Calling show at this hotel.

On July 1, 1956, I appeared on the Steve Allen Show at the Hudson Theater.

While in NYC, I found out the Hudson Theater was granted landmark status 1987 and is now a part of the Millennium Broadway Hotel complex.

I got to see Radio City Music Hall where Elvis The Concert SOLD OUT in March of 1998.
Megan was at the shows and told me all about the excitement of the shows.

I visited the Empire State Building while In New York

Visiting Nancy Olson

Wyoming, MN

FLAT ELVIS STOLEN!

Excitement was in the air waiting for the arrival of FE at Nancy's house in Linwood Minnesota, it took some time but I finally arrived safe and sound.   Could not wait to begin my visit.

Nancy's oldest g-son, David and Niece, Liz hanging out with FE

Nancy's Dad's Birthday. We all sang
Happy Birthday Elvis Style

We started with a tour of the friends and family along with a Birthday Celebration for Nancy's 82 year old Father.  I so enjoyed meeting everyone and they sure did enjoy me, they fought over me, and wow....the food it was a regular Norse smorgasbord.

Nancy and I at the mouth of the Mississippi, Itasca State Park, Northern Minnesota

The next day we headed for the Mouth of the Mississippi River in Itasca State Park, the same  River that runs through Memphis, it was a 4 hour journey but sure was exciting to see, not to mention the looks we received.   So surprising to see how many people are interested in me, still remember me, I am so amazed.

Testing the water at the mouth of the Mississippi

From Itasca we headed to Breezy Point Resort to see Chris Olson, ETA performer, can you imagine people are now remembering me through impersonators?

The performance was dockside, as luck would have it we were rained out,  so we headed for home, relaxing to my music.
Plans also head to be canceled the following day as tornadoes headed towards us as we headed towards the basement, now how's that for excitement.

The second weekend started out with a trip back to Breezy Point to see Chris, what a night that turned out to be, I will never forget it.  Chris sure did put on a great show, the place was packed, people were everywhere, blocks and blocks of them, we got some special attention, had front row seats, Nancy, her hubby, Larry and 4 of her 20 grandchildren.

People were trying to jump on stage, grab scarves, this brought  back some old memories.  All night long people had been stopping to look at me, ask questions, touch me, I was a bigger hit than I realized I would be.

Then it happened...I was kidnapped!
During a break in the show Nancy had to take all the grandkids but Silas (the youngest) to the restroom.   Silas stayed with grandpa, he was cold so grandpa was putting a sweatshirt on him when the unthinkable  happened!
I was sitting in the middle of the round table, with my legs safely inside of Nancy's purse taking in all the sights when I was yanked from my spot, flew threw the air, and stuffed under a sweater, yikes was it dark, very scary, tried to get some of my karate chops in, must have been stiff from the long ride as they didn't seem to be working.

Thank goodness for Larry's peripheral vision along with his quick thinking, not to mentions guts.  He had to stretch over the table, in one swift movement to scoop me out from the heat and darkness of my captors' sweater.  This lady just looked at Larry and said...."Oh, is he yours"?

Well, dud, what did she think!  Larry was in a sweat by the time Nancy and the grandkids returned, needless to say I was in someone possession the rest of the show.  Yes, it was a night to remember.

Kids, me and ETA Chris Olson after the show.

Sunday was a day to revisit a couple of places I had been to the last time I preformed in St. Paul.   So off we went to the Civic center, now renamed the Excel Center, walked around with the g-kids while Nancy told them all about my performance that night including showing them the ticket stub that she still has.   We also made a stop at the Capitol, what a beautiful building, just as I remembered, this time the g-kids gave me a tour, including the golden horses.

Nancy and I spending some alone time

All good things must end,  so to this trip, Nancy and I spent some time hanging out on the deck listening to some of my music before I headed back to Bev in California.   Thank you Bev for letting me visit,  it was a very memorable time for me, Nancy along with all of the friends, relatives, strangers, and yes even captors'.  Thank you, Thank you very much.

        And that is my story!

Visiting Lori Shelton

Huntsville, Alabama Thank you Lori for a nice time and give mama Jean a big hug for me!

I arrived in Huntsville AL to greet Lori; she was so excited to see me.  She has been a fan since she was 11 years old.  The first thing we did was go visit the Von Braun that is where I preformed back in 1975.

Lori introduced me to her Mother (Jean) and family.  Her mother had such a fit over me.  I have to go stay all night at her house.  Jean took me everywhere.  I taught I was never going to get to bed.

I arrived back at Lori’s house and she took me to work.  Boy she works a lot.  I was really surprised to see that she had more pictures of me than her boyfriend.  That made me feel even more welcome.

WOW! LOOK AT ALL THOSE PHOTOS OF ME AT LORI'S WORK!

After a long day at work we went to the Space and Rocket Center.  That was really nice.  It is neat that Huntsville has a Space Camp.

On the day that I was leaving we had lunch at the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
It was sad to leave when I was having so much fun, but I have to complete my journey.

Taken on a trip to Dothan, Alabama

Bet there is some good food here!

Visiting Stacy Bates

Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania I have met many wonderful fans on this tour, it has been fun!

So here I am, back in Pennsylvania--this time with Stacy and her family.  I arrived yesterday but had to wait at the post office overnight until I could be picked up.  Not the kind of fanfare I was expecting.

Stacy and her mom and sister had been out shopping so I had to wait even longer to meet everyone until they got home--Stacy works most of the day so she apologized and promised to show me as much as she could.
As she got ready to go to bed I decided to hang out with 2 girls I know--"Flat" Mama Cass (Elliot), who I met in the early 70s, and "Flat" Dolores (Hart)...two ladies who Stacy digs just as much as me.

She introduced me to her pets--Tuggle (orange cat), Maybelline (Gerbil) and Belle (white cat) who insisted on swatting me across the room. That cat was squirrelly, man. I was dead tired after all that but Stacy insisted on watching the Netflix movie she got in the mail...Frank Sinatra's Welcome Home Special for yours truly from 1960. Boy that brought back memories.

Stacy said she liked Nancy Sinatra better with blonde hair and I agreed. She also asked since Frank wanted to give back so much of the time I had lost while in the Army with his silly time machine and song and dance numbers, why didn't he also offer back the time of mine he wasted with that boring special.

By the time I came to perform my two songs out, Stacy almost screamed for joy right along with the audience. She said she'd heard of saving the best for last but that was just ridiculous. I have no complaints. Doing that special was a great time. It was a whirlwind evening--just kidding--but so ended my first night in Pennsyltucky!

Off to work with Stacy. She works at M.D.C. Romani's as a bookkeeper and she does advertisement design work and graphics for them as well. Her desk looks more like a fun house than a place where actual work gets done. But she explained to me that the stuff she puts up on her cork board is meant to inspire her. She has a lot more to do with it I'd say.

The Archies?! I read those comics...man, this girls' great... On the way home, we made a detour.  She works in Indiana and explained to me how it's actor James Stewart's home town.  She said he worked in a movie theater just like me--and showed it to me.

Then I saw the statue that was dedicated in his honor and then we toured the Jimmy Stewart Museum. He's one cool cat.  So I guess Indiana is to Jimmy fans what Memphis is to mine. Stacy said it's really pretty there in the wintertime.
Said the whole town dresses up like a scene right outta the film, "It's A Wonderful Life"...she said Indiana County is also supposedly the Christmas Tree Capitol of the world. I wish I could see it at Christmas!

My last day with Stacy, and outside everything is hitting the fan. Hurricane Ernesto's after effects were being felt ten-fold. I'm lucky I had a jacket on or I'd have be cold like everyone else. The flooding that went on was crazy.

We were outta Stacy's house by 8:30 to go to Glendale Lake to decorate for her nephew J.C.'s 1st birthday party.
Why she'd want to take me that close to a body of water when flood watches were in effect is beyond me. But like I said before--it's a good thing I'm laminated!

Just about everyone wanted to see me. Ryan, Stacy's cousin Christa's boyfriend held a lighter to my head and asked me if I'd like to be a hunka-hunka burning love...luckily Stacy lunged on him and snatched me back just in time. Not funny, son!

I had a blast but I think I've been with Stacy for ages... Though I hate to leave, my public is WAITING...and hopefully without lighters!
