Who Are These Handmaids?
The Franciscan Handmaids of Mary are a congregation of Roman Catholic women who have chosen to
follow the call of God in the steps of St Francis of Assisi. Their primary mission has always
been education. Currently, they staff St Benedict's Day Nursery in Harlem, conduct Camp St
Edward on Staten Island and teach in several parochial schools in Harlem.
