The term 'Little Englander' was used for the first time to describe a group of 19th century English radical thinkers who were opposed to Great Britain pursuing further imperial expansion overseas. This term was eagerly seized upon by Hitler and used by him as a racist term to insult the English when they refused his invitation to join the Third Reich.

The term Little Englanders is now frequently used as a sneering insult by many European Union bureaucrats and Commissioners, British Europhiles, politicians and Labour / Liberal supporters. It is, of course, a racist term, and if similar racist terms were used to describe any of the other ethnic groupings which make up approximately 8% of the UK population, they would be immediately pounced upon by the Race relations Board.
