To: Whom it may concern From: William C. Sexton Re: Lori Gibson as a dance instructor About the middle of October in 2001 I started attending dance classes being taught by Lori. I have to tell you, I wish some of my teachers in high school or even at the technical school I attended from 1987 – 1989 had been as thorough and patient as she is with a class of beginners. Lori has a style of teaching that is based not only on her extensive dance background but also on the idea that anyone, if you are patient enough with them, can learn to dance. I picked up this little tidbit from watching her teach and seeing the way she works with each student. She takes the time to make sure that each person attending one of her classes understands how to perform the moves she is teaching that session…but manages to do so without holding up the rest of the class while instilling a sense of accomplish-ment in everyone. In the almost one and a half years I have been attending her classes I can’t recall one person that walked off the dance floor frustrated or disgusted with their own progress. She has a way of making everyone feel like they have accomplished something special while having fun at the same time. To date I have taken Western Waltz, Western Two Step, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, several “pattern dances” (Cowboy Cha-cha, Horseshoe Shuffle, etc.) and line dances, Latin Cha-cha, Night-Club Two Step and Salsa. I am looking forward in the future to learning some ballroom steps as well as continuing to learn new steps in several of the above. The only regret I have about taking classes from Lori is that I wish I hadn’t waited until I was almost 41 years old to start learning to dance, but I’m glad I found Lori to learn from! William C.
