UNDER 16s DIVISION ONE
CLIFFE WOODS COLTS
5 - 2 HORSTED BEES
With players
missing due to illness and suspensions woods put on a championship
winning performance to secure their fifth title in five years after
defeating a spirited Horsted Bees. Horsted pressed for most of the
first half without penetrating a resolute Cliffe defence. Cliffe were
unlucky not to take the lead through a Joe Hughes effort which was
ruled out shortly before half-time. Adam Hill raced onto a through
ball, and with the keeper committed, coolly slotted home from thirty
yards. The second half began with Horsted missing a gaping goal only
for Woods to counter attack and Abdul Dawodu to add a second. slick
passing left Joe Kane in acres of space to chest the ball and lob the
keeper for a third. Goal number four came from excellent football
after Sam Pettit broke from the back played in Danny Campbell to
cross for Adam Hill to add his second. Horsted rallied as woods
injuries began to tell, and when they were awarded a free kick, James
Wilkins curled it into the net 'a la' Beckham. The Bees continued to
press and managed to add a second, only for goal machine Adam Hill to
score his hatrick and woods' fifth, taking his tally to 59 for the
season so far.
A special mention
goes to Bees keeper Daniel Clarkson who had to bravely save at woods
players feet on a number of occasions. |

Aaron Spencer capped an exceptional performance with goal number six.

A great display of

soon found themselves behind when Adam Hill slotted home. Hill then
thundered home a wonder strike from 25 yards after a pass from strike
partner Danny Campbell. Campbell added number three and four after
Abdul Dawodu powered through the Zebras defence.
With Ben Hiscoke
and Abdul Dawodu dominating in midfield the Zebras had little of the
ball, however, the impressive Luke Blanshard still managed to hit the

competitive game. Prolific scorer Adam Hill had the luxury of missing
an early chance before scoring a brace to help put woods top.Horsted
may have felt they wasted chances that came their way, but the score
could have been more emphatic had Joe Kane's effort not been ruled out.

(8) v VALLEY COLTS (3) UNDER 16s DIVISION 1
9th JANUARY 2005
"
Bouncebackability" is the only way to describe Woods second half
revival after finding themselves deservedly 1-3 down, with only 25
minutes left to play.
Excellent wide
play from Aaron Spencer and Jack Mahoney, opened up a well organised
Valley Colts defence with a ball into the box enabled Joe Hughes
to add to Dan Trott`s first half effort. Further goals came by
way of an Adam Hill hat-trick, a brace from Ben Hiscoke, and one from
the very unselfish Danny Campbell.
A big thank you
must go to Valley Colts for arriving and playing in black armbands as
a mark of respect to former Woods manager Terry Fitzpatrick, who died
suddenly at Christmas as was mentioned in last weeks report. |

CLIFFE WOODS COLTS
(8) v FULSTON ZEBRAS (2) UNDER 16s DIVISION 1
2nd JANUARY 2005
Cliffe Woods Colts
arrived in sombre spirits due to the sudden death on Christmas eve,
of former manager ,of eight years, Terry Fitzpatrick.
Many of the
current squad had played for Terry for a number of seasons, and wore
black armbands in his memory. A minutes silence was impeccably
observed by both teams and supporters, and in the presence of Terry's
family. The under 16 squad and parents would like to send their
sincere condolences to David, Luke, Mollie, and Carol.
With the game
underway the score and result were always irrelevant under the
circumstances. but Woods played the way Terry always demanded with
good passing, spirit, and pride for the shirt they wear. This was
evident when Adam Hill battled his way through the Zebras defence to
score the first of a hat-trick, Zebras levelled, but Daniel Campbell
smashed home number two. Fulston replied. But Daniel Trott
added a brace,Sam Pettit, and a Scott Richardson penalty completed
the scoring for woods. |

colts and Adam Hill raced onto an Anthony Uden pass to level the

one-two left Spencer to whip in a cross which Ben Hiscoke headed

Congratulations to
Adam Hill on scoring his 300th and 301st goals for the club, though
he is the first to recognise the excellant service he gets from his
team mates. Hill's 2 early strikes got Woods off to a flyer in a very
entertaining cup-tie. His first a venemous strike, and his second
coming from a corner that the Zebras failed to clear.
Zebras hit back
with a fine effort from Luke Blanchard, who had an excellant game and
was at the root of every Zebras attack.
Woods were under
pressure at the start of the second half but Woods keeper Scott
Sherman controlled his area very well. When Jack Mahoney combined
with Anthony Uden in good play down the left, they played Danny
Campbell in behind the defence and he unselfishly squared for Aaron
Spencer to tap in. Goal number 4 came from a raking 40 yard pass from
Joe Hughes, that made it easy for Danny Campbell to round the keeper
and slide in a superb effort . |

A fine 4 - 2
victory for the Senior Colts over Dewdrop. The Colts dominated the
game with fine passing and sublime skills all powered by the
workhorse midfield of John Foster and Gene Clout and with great goals
from Dean Rossitter (2), Adam O'keefe and a Paul Jackson pile driver,
Paul was unlucky not to repeat this effort later in the game. Things
are looking up for the seniors with a full squad available for Sunday
21st at home against Spartak. |

Today the Seniors
were away at Sheerness East, a long journey into the wilds of
Sheerness with a squad depleted through injury, home and work
commitments. With the old, old heads of both managers - Gerald Jones
and Derek Hedges playing in the midfield it was always going to be a
struggle against a sheerness team at home and on form. The Senior
squad stretched to its full limits with injuries to key players like
Craig Ridley (who still made it through a full 90 minutes) and
players in key positions missing - top scorer Dean Rossitter had to
work, Tony Scales was away with his family, Lee Jones injured, Lyndon
Guscott injured. The end result was a battling 2-1 defeat, with a
bare bones 11 players all starting to feel the strain of a long hard
season. Still things are looking up for next season with the
injection of some new youthful talent all is not lost. |

The Under 10s
played in their 3rd League Cup Final in 3 years today. As predicted
it was a tight and entertaining game. The Colts won the first game
against a strong Horsted team 2-1 with Horsted scoring in the last
seconds. In the second game it was end to end stuff with Horsted the
2-1 victors thanks to an unlucky deflection. This made the final all
square on aggregate and the score remained the same after extra time.
The match was finally decided on penalties in Horsted's favour. Well
done to all the boys for a great final. |

paper, promises to be a very good match.
