Cavy
Companions
CAVY COMPANIONS was originally established to provide a no-kill refuge
for guinea pigs rescued from shelters, education on their proper care, and
adoption only to loving and committed homes in the Puget Sound area. As
of January 2007, its focus is on caring for guinea pigs with Special Needs
who come from local shelters.
Cavy Companions will not adopt out any guinea pigs here to be classroom
pets. Cavy Companions is also adamantly against breeding any
companion animal.
Cavy Companions has the discretionary right to refuse an adoption.
After contacting Cavy Companions, adoptions are done by appointment
at Cavy Companions in Bellevue, Washington.
Since Cavy Companions now rescues only "special needs" guinea pigs
from local shelters, NO MORE GUINEA PIGS WILL BE TAKEN IN.
Because it is critical for their well-being, Cavy Companions will
only adopt the guinea pigs here in pairs, unless you have a guinea pig already
who needs a companion.
ADOPTION "FEE": $45.00 for each spayed or neutered guinea pig. Since
adoption "fees" do not begin to cover the cost of these surgeries, any extra
donation at time of adoption is very much appreciated.
Cavy Companions is a private, volunteer effort out of my home, so
donations of cash (to be used for food, hay, bedding, and veterinary bills)
are greatly appreciated, but are not currently tax-deductible.
We try to keep the information at this site current and accurate, but companions
listed as available for adoption are subject to change (due to adoptions
or pending adoptions).
