Over the past several months I have been working on some new designs for purses, using the concept of "blended fabrics". These purse designs are certainly different from the dolls you see on my web site, but the joy of making them is very similar.

Blended fabrics are a modern day twist on a very old technique. When making blended fabrics, layer upon layer of different materials are added and sewn together using, in my case, a wide variety of intricate stitches to bind it all. After the basic fabric piece is made, the pattern for the purse is then cut out and assembled in the same way you'd use any other fabric. The results have been stunning!!

Looking at the fabric you can see that it is made of a wide range of materials, to include scraps of regular fabric, Angelina fibers, threads, yarn, ribbon, netting .... honestly, just about anything I can get my hands on could possibly go into a piece of blended fabric.

Keep an eye out in the Classes link for upcoming dates where the design and application of blended fabrics will be taught. You'll love it!!
