About the NST

The National Smallmouth Trail was founded in 1993 as an organization dedicated to smallmouth-only tournament bass fishing. The organization hosts a set of fishing tournaments and publishes the National Smallmouth Trail, Incorporated magazine twice a year. On the schedule there are fourteen regular tournaments scheduled that will culminate with a season-ending championship with a $10,000 first prize. All tournaments are buddy tournaments and are held between December and October. Early season tournaments are daytime activities while the late spring, summer and fall tournaments are held at night. The championship is a grueling two night affair that is a fair test of any fisherman's endurance.

The NST also has a points championship competition with a prize of $2,000 to the team with the best six tournament finishes. At each regular tournament, sixty (60) points are awarded for first with a one (1) point drop for each subsequent place. (i.e., fifty-nine (59) for second, third place gets fifty-eight (58), etc.) You must weigh a fish at a tournament to receive points. The runners-up in the points championship are awarded $1,000.

Join the National Smallmouth Trail.

Annual Dues are $20.00, and you must be a member to fish tournaments or to receive the National Smallmouth Trail Magazine. Send a check or money order to:
