The copy of George John CROWE's birth certificate names his parents as Robert and Jane. Jane's maiden name is given as GUNSON. Their address is stated as 23 Edmund Street, which is in Camden Town, London. In the 1851 Census they are no longer at this address so they must have moved shortly after George's birth. The street index for around this time shows that half the street was being pulled down in 1851! The birth certificate also gives his father's occupation as "waterman at coach station".

The 1861 Census shows a Robert CROWE, aged 52, born in Sea Palling, Norfolk, his wife Jane aged 52, born in Marylebone, London, a son George aged 14 born in St Pancras, and a daughter Mary aged 16 also born in St Pancras. (This would make Robert's year of birth around 1809 which conflicts with his baptism date of October 1807).

The following baptism records were found for the children:

James, 22 October 1830 in St Marylebone. The family were living in Little Albany Street, and his father Robert is described as a servant.

Jane Sarah, 3 February 1833 in St Marylebone. The family were living in Nottingham Mews and her father Robert is described as a coachman.

William Gunson, 1 May 1836 in St Marylebone. Same occupation and address for his father Robert.

Elizabeth, 21 July 1838 in St Marylebone. The family were living in Grotto (?) Place. Her father Robert is described as a cab driver.

John, 19 November 1842 in St Pancras. The family were living at 23 Edmund Street in Camden Town. His father Robert is still a cab driver.

Mary Ann, 31 May 1845 in St Pancras. Same address, Robert's occupation given as coachman.

George John, 4 March 1848 in St Pancras.

Robert died on 10 October 1867 at the age of 60. He was living at 32 Middlesex Street, Somers Town in London. His occupation is described as cabriolet coachman.
