James CROWE is my 4x Great Grandfather. It is not known whether he was born in Sea Palling, Norfolk, England or whether he moved there at a later date. His date of birth is calculated back from the known date of his death.James was a farmer in Sea Palling. He married Mary MARKHAM on 20 September 1761 at St Andrew's Church, Hempstead with Eccles, an adjacent parish 1.5 miles to the north of Sea Palling. The witnesses to the marriage were Richard GOOSE and Robert MARKHAM.

All the children were baptised at St Margaret's Church, Sea Palling. It is assumed that the first child named James died in infancy, but there is no record of his burial. Another son, John, is mentioned in James' Will but there is no record of his baptism. The following burials are recorded in a book entitled Monumental Inscriptions for the Hundreds of Happing, published in 1886, for St Margaret's Church, Sea Palling.
James Crowe, died 3 November 1810
Mary Crowe, died....1817
Robert Crowe, died 23 May 1849 aged 83
Sarah Crowe, died 25 May 1855 aged 71
Sarah Crowe must be the second wife of Robert Crowe as they are buried near each other, or together. Robert's first wife, Ann, died in 1809.
The parish registers for Sea Palling record the following burials:
James Crowe, 11 November 1810, aged 76. This would make his year of birth around 1734.
Mary Crowe, 12 November 1817, aged 82. This would make her year of birth around 1735.
James' daughter Ann married Robert DEARY, a thatcher of Winterton, Norfolk, on 15 June 1794 at St Margaret's Church, Sea Palling.
James' daughter Elizabeth married David LONG, a bricklayer of Ingham, Norfolk, on 19 October 1800 at St Margaret's Church, Sea Palling.
The Last Will and Testament of James Crowe mentions the following persons:
Mary, his wife. John, James and Robert, his sons. Ann, Abigail, and Elizabeth, his daughters. (Abigail is refered to as Abigail SANDS). Catherine, the daughter of his son John. James, George, Abigail, Ann and Robert, the children of his son Robert by his first wife Ann.
** Whilst not in my direct male line I have included Robert's details and those of his son German.
