Buyer Requirements:

  • We ask that our buyers do their research on the Siberian Husky breed.  This breed of dog is not for everyone.  They are active and inquisitive.  They require lots of human interaction and do not do well when left alone for long periods of time.  They WILL find ways to get your attention and not always in a pleasurable manner.  There are many web sites on the internet that offer excellent information on the breed - (check AKC standard).  There are also several books available - (check Borders.com).
  • Buyers need a fenced yard that is secure and an area where their Siberian Husky can get adequate exercise.
  • We encourage our buyers to invest the time in taking their puppies to obedience classes.  This helps ensure that the dog learns the rules of being a family member.
  • We ask that our buyers keep in contact with us.  We love updates on how our puppies have grown up.  We encourage our buyers to call us if they ever have questions about your dog or it's family history.  This also helps us continually evaluate the success of our breeding program.
  • All buyers are required to complete a questionnaire before purchasing a Siberian Husky from Highlander Siberians. We do this in an attempt to ensure that the right match is made, and our dogs can live long, healthy and happy lives.

Age:

Our puppies are released to their new homes on an individual basis depending on how they are doing, their litter size, when they start to eat on their own, and lastly how they react to their puppy shots. Generally, puppies go home between 8 to 10 weeks.  However, this is only if the puppy is completely ready to go and the environment where the puppy is heading is one that is safe and secure. Occasionally,  we may have an older puppy available. These puppies usually have better defined temperaments and adjust very well to new environments.

Vaccinations:

Our puppies receive an initial vaccination prior to going home.  We give shots at 7, 9, 13 and 17 weeks. After a pup is a year old, it will require an annual booster. Our puppies are also wormed prior to going home. We worm all puppies with Nemex II at 5 and 7 weeks.  We use Heartguard Plus, a once-a-month pill, to control Heartworm and other internal parasites.  Depending on the time of year, we usually start our pups on this medication at 9 weeks of age.

Health Guarantee:

We guarantee all puppies to be healthy when they leave the kennel.  If you receive a puppy from us and a health problem develops within 72 hours, you must contact us regarding the problem. We cannot be responsible for veterinary costs not approved prior to treatment. Any puppy which dies due to a genetic defect within 36 months after purchase will be replaced free of charge (except shipping, health certificate and handling fee). This will be done if your veterinarian attributes death to a genetic deformity in an autopsy and sends us the findings of the autopsy. The autopsy shall be at the owner's expense.

The parents of our puppies are always in superb health. We OFA certify (see Orthopedic Foundation of America web site) all of our dogs. All of our dogs have their eyes screened annually by a Canine Ophthalmologist (ACVO) and are found to be clear of any defect before being bred. (see CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation) web site)

Contracts/Agreements

I am posting copies of our sales agreements in the hope that someone thinking of buying a dog from the newspaper ad, without a sales agreement or contract, will think again.

Below you will find links to our pet contracts, show contracts, as well as to our stud dog contract. These contracts are designed to protect you, as the buyer; us as the sellers; and to ensure the welfare of the dogs. If you would like clarification about anything in a contract, or if you wish to know WHY we have a particular requirement in a contract, please email us by using the link at the bottom of the page.

These contracts are not 'written in stone'. They are always evolving based upon our experiences. If you would like to explore other terms in any contract, again - email us. We do not promise that we will change them, but we will always listen to your point of view and will give it careful consideration.

Our contracts for show prospects/adults are individually designed based upon the age and training of the dog, as well as the preferences of us and the Buyer. Should you wish to inquire about a show prospect, please email us. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
