The idea that it is possible to remain relatively healthy with, or perhaps in spite of, an eating disorder might seem preposterous, but it can be done. That is not to say that one can prevent any and all medical complications that might arise as a result of their illness. Rather, one can minimise, at least for a time, the ill effects of the disease on their body by taking certain precautions.
In this section you will find factual information on key nutrients - including calories, fats and carbohydrates - explaining how they are used by the body. You will also find information on vitamins and minerals detailing their importance in health maintenance. Additionally, I have included a page outlining the importance of remaining well hydrated as well as advice on how to exercise safely.
In a move that may prove to be somewhat controversial, I have chosen to include pages discussing the use of diet pills, laxatives and other purgative agents. This should not, under any circumstances, be taken to mean that I recommend or in any way condone their use. On the contrary as I know all too well the inherent risks of their use and abuse. Instead, these pages are intended to provide accurate information about them and offer advice on how best to limit the damage their use might cause.
