2334 PUC
Surak, the founder of Vulcan logic and emotional control, is born on
Vulcan to T'Leia and Stef.
14 Ventôse 2291 PUC (139954 VOD)
Orion pirates land on Vulcan, resulting in war. This leads to a split
between Surak and his pupil S'task.
2275 PUC (12 Ahhahr 140005 VOD)
S'task and his 80,000 followers leave Vulcan for a new world in the
ships Rea's Helm, Warbird, Starcatcher, T'Hie, Pennon,
Bloodwing, Corona, Lance, Gorget, Sunheart, Forge,
Lost Road, Blacklight, Firestorm, Vengeance, Memory,
and Shield.
1269 PUC
The surviving Vulcan ships Rea's Helm, Gorget, Sunheart,
Firestorm, and Vengeance arrive in orbit around 128 Trianguli IIA and
IIB, which they named ch'Rihan ("of the Declared") and ch'Havran ("of the
Travellers"). The journey took only an apparent 105 years to those in the ships due
to relativistic effect.
12 Prairial 1224 PUC (14 October AD 1066)
The Norman army of William the Conqueror defeats the Anglo-Saxon king
Harold at the Battle of Hastings.
21 Thermidor 1223 PUC (25 December AD 1066)
William the Conqueror is crowned as the first king of all England.
1 Floréal 1078 PUC (23 June AD 1215)
Many English barons force King John to sign the Magna Carta,
proclaiming that all people have certain rights and freedoms which no government can take
away.
16 Prairial 806 PUC (29 October AD 1492)
Spanish explorer Christopher Columbus lands on the island of Cuba,
marking the European discovery of the Americas. Many other explorers from various nations
would follow over the next three hundred years.
756 PUC (AD 1543)
Wales becomes united with England.
22 Vendémiaire 693 PUC (14 May AD 1607)
Settlers from England found the colony of Jamestown, the first English
colony in North America. There would eventually be thirteen separate colonies.
10 Thermidor 595 PUC (16 January AD 1707)
The English Parliament passes the Act of Union, combining England and
Scotland into the united kingdom of Great Britain.
5 Vendémiaire 527 PUC (4 July AD 1776)
The Second Continental Congress adopts the Declaration of Independence,
outlining the grievances the American colonies had with the British crown and declaring
them to be "free and independent states".
2 Vendémiaire 516 PUC (17 September AD 1787)
Following a revolution against Britain, the United States adopts a new
constitution forming a constitutional republic and strictly limiting the functions of
government.
28 Thermidor 514 PUC (26 August AD 1789)
The French National Assembly approves the Declaration des droits de
l'homme et du citoyen (Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen). It, like
the Magna Carta and Declaration of Independence, outlines the natural and unalienable
rights of all people.
2 Frimaire 512 PUC (15 December AD 1791)
A Bill of Rights consisting of ten amendments is added to the US
Constitution. It states certain rights, including freedom of speech and trial by jury, and
reserves all powers and rights not specifically stated to the individual states or the
people themselves.
27 Fructidor 510 PUC (3 brumaire an II)
The French revolutionaries adopt a new calendar to make a further break
with the old ways. Each of the 12 months has three "decades" of 10 days each,
with 5 extra days (6 in leap years) at the end of the year.
22 Vendémiaire 504 PUC (1 January 1800)
The British Parliament passes the Act of Union unifying Britain and
Ireland.
12 Fructidor 498 PUC (10 brumaire an XIV)
The French government reverts to the old calendar the following day, 1
January AD 1806. The names of the republican months would later be used in the
Commonwealth calendar.
Nivose 457 PUC (February AD 1848)
Karl Marx publishes the Communist Manifesto, setting the
foundations for the policies of many Earth governments well into the 21st century and
beyond.
18 Thermidor 444 PUC (20 December AD 1860)
South Carolina becomes the first state to secede from the United
States. Disagreements over the rights of states versus the federal government led to the
secession. The issue of slavery, while certainly a factor, was not the main focus of the
war. Ten other states would follow over the next year, creating the Confederate States of
America.
5 Frimaire 444 PUC (10 April AD 1861)
Confederate ships fire on Fort Sumter in South Carolina, beginning the
US Civil War.
Frimaire 440 PUC (May AD 1865)
The Confederacy finally surrenders to the Union, ending the US Civil
War. The question of whether or not a state could later secede from a union it voluntarily
entered appeared to be resolved.
17 Frimaire 384 PUC (18 June 1922)
Ireland, except for 6 northern counties, becomes independent of the
United Kingdom.
6 Messidor 373 PUC (20 March AD 1933)
Franklin Delano Roosevelt is inaugurated as president of the United
States. He would be elected to another three terms, and his various socialist "New
Deal" programmes would radically change American society.
13 Brumaire 361 PUC (24 October AD 1945)
The United Nations is founded on Earth as an organisation dedicated to
preserving world peace.
1 Germinal 356 PUC (18 April AD 1951)
Six European nations form the European Coal and Steel Community, the
forerunner to the European Union.
27 Nivôse 350 PUC (25 March 1957)
The six nations of the ECSC sign the Treaties of Rome creating the
European Economic Community, which will seek to expand a common market throughout Europe.
4 Thermidor 349 PUC (4 October AD 1957)
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics launches a small satellite
called Sputnik, beginning Earth's venture into space.
17 Nivôse 346 PUC (12 April AD 1961)
Soviet pilot Yuri Gagarin orbits Earth for 1h 42m in Vostok 1, becoming
the first human in space.
29 Pluviose 338 PUC (21 July AD 1969)
American astronaut Neil Armstrong takes his first step onto Earth's
moon, followed shortly thereafter by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin.
15 Fructidor 336 PUC (15 February AD 1971)
The United Kingdom decimalises its currency of pounds, shillings, and
pence.
4 Messidor 335 PUC (11 December AD 1971)
David Nolan and others create the Libertarian Party in the US as an
alternative to the big-government policies of the two major parties, the Democrats and the
Republicans.
19 Messidor 334 PUC (1 January AD 1973)
The United Kingdom joins the European Community,
315 PUC (AD 1992)
The Eugenics Wars start on Earth. Over the next year, the
genetically-engineered "supermen" will conquer much of Earth.
29 Fructidor 313 PUC (9 August AD 1993)
The United Kingdom ratifies the Treaty of Maastricht, which sets up
goals for an eventual unification of Europe, with a common currency, citizenship,
policies, and government.
26 Frimaire 314 PUC (1 November AD 1993)
The Treaty of Maastricht is ratified by a sufficient number of
countries. The common market of the European Community becomes the European Union.
26 Vendémiaire 311 PUC (22 September AD 1996)
The Eugenics Wars end. Khan Noonian Singh and 97 of his followers
escape Earth in the Botany Bay.
16 Ventose 310 PUC (19 February AD 1998)
British voters approve a referendum on adoption of the euro.
21 Nivôse 309 PUC (1 January AD 1999)
The euro becomes the official currency of 12 European countries.
1 Nivôse 306 PUC (1 January AD 2002)
The euro enters circulation. Pounds, francs, marks, lira, and other
national currencies are no longer accepted.
5 Floréal 299 PUC (26 June AD 2009)
King Charles III is crowned sovereign of the United Kingdom. He will be
the last British monarch, although many will claim his son to be King William V.
7 Brumaire 298 PUC (1 January AD 2010)
The Treaty of Maastricht takes full effect. Most of the nations of
Europe, including the United Kingdom, are now one country, the European Union.
9 Vendémiaire 278 (3 May AD 2030)
Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of warp drive, is born on Earth.
13 Germinal 269 PUC (1 January 2040)
Following World War III, the African Republic, Australia, Canada,
China, the European Union, New Zealand, and Russia form a new United Nations. This new
organisation is not simply a forum to discuss international issue, but a fully-independent
country. Other countries join over the next few decades.
10 Pluviôse 246 PUC (7 April AD 2063)
Zefram Cochrane makes his first flight using warp drive. Following his
landing, he is met by several ambassadors from Vulcan, initiating Earth's contact with
other worlds.
230 PUC (AD 2079)
The United States joins the new United Nations, ceasing to be an
independent nation.
154 PUC (AD 2156)
Attacks on ships from Earth by Rihannsu vessels finally erupt into
full-scale war.
5 Floreal 151 PUC (1 May AD 2160)
The Battle of Cheron ends the war between the humans and the Rihannsu.
A neutral zone is established, keeping ch'Rihan and ch'Havran isolated from the rest of
the galaxy.
17 Ventose 150 PUC (19 March AD 2161)
Andor, Centaurus, Earth, Tellar, and Vulcan sign a constitution
creating the United Federation of Planets.
26 Prairial 3 PUC (29 April AD 2311)
300 Rihannsu dissidents manage to escape the Empire. A Starfleet vessel
eventually brings them to Earth.
22 Nivose 1 PUC (5 December 2312)
The Federation Council allows the 300 Rihannsu, as well as several
human groups, to colonise the planet 20 Leonis Minoris III, which they will name L'nhraei.
Many of the humans are of either American or British ancestry, and all of them disagree
with the socialist policies of the United Nations and the Federation.
1 Messidor 1 AUC (17 May AD 2313)
The first settlers land on L'nhraei, at ch'Taala.
4 Thermidor 1
The L'nhraei settlers agree to a constitution, based on the US
constitution, that very strictly limits what the new government can do. In a close vote,
they become a member of the Federation, feeling they need the defence Starfleet can
provide.
1 Germinal 7
Two professional baseball leagues begin play. The L'nhraei League
consists of the ch'Taala Yankees, Freya Dragons, L'nhraei Giants, Mundus Minutemen, Nova
Bears, and Tiw Vikings. The I'riuu League consists of the Freya Dhivaela, Hampshire
Patriots, L'nhraei Dodgers, Mundus Minutemen, Selene Cubs, and Tiw Thraiin. Both leagues
play a 154-game schedule, with no designated hitter.
3 Vendemiaire 7
The Freya Dhivaela defeat the L'nhraei Giants in six games to win the
first L'nhraei Series.
10 Floreal 61 (25 May AD 2375)
The Dominion signs a peace treaty with the nations of the Alpha
Quadrant, ending the war.
25 Prairial 61 (17 July AD 2375)
The Federation Council approves a six-month extension for the Rihannsu
station placed in orbit around L'nhraei during the war to remain. 8 observers from
L'nhraei and 2 from Starfleet are granted access to the station.
26 Vendemiaire 62
The Tal Shiar station orbiting L'nhraei is destroyed. Everyone still on
board is killed, including the observers.
22 Floreal 62
The three top officers from the station are put on trial for murder.
18 Prairial 62
The Rihannsu officers are convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to
250 years in prison and must pay damages of £10 million.
22 Germinal 63
L'nhraei voters overwhelmingly approve secession from the Federation.
4 Thermidor 67
L'nhraei (20 Leonis Minoris III), Selene (20 Leonis Minoris IIIA), Tiw
(20 Leonis Minoris IV), Freya (20 Leonis Minoris II), Nova (47 Ursae Majoris II), and
Mundus (11 Leonis Minoris A II) form the L'nhraei Commonwealth of Planets. Their new
constitution is practically identical to L'nhraei's, with the exception of a Senate
representing the member worlds added to the legislature.
