§ 524. Hindering Prosecution.

    1.    No person shall be convicted of hindering prosecution unless it can be proven that they intentionally hindered the arrest, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of another person knowing the person is subject to arrest, prosecution, conviction, or punishment by:
            a.     harbouring or concealing the other person; or
            b.     providing to the other person transportation, disguise, a weapon, or other means of avoiding apprehension; or
            c.     warns the other person of impending apprehension unless the warning was to encourage the person to voluntarily submit to police.

    2.    If the crime for which the other person is sought, charged, or convicted is punishable by imprisonment, hindering prosecution shall be punished by damages of not less than £50 and not more than £50,000.

    3.    If the crime for which the other person is sought, charged, or convicted is not punishable by imprisonment, hindering prosecution shall be punished by damages of not less than £25 and not more than £25,000.

    4.    Only the plaintiff seeking arrest, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of the crime for which the person aided was a defendant may charge hindering prosecution.
