§ 519. Violation of Civil Rights.

    1.    No person shall be convicted of violation of civil rights unless it can be proven that he, while acting or claiming to act with authority of law, subjected another person to arrest, detention, search, seizure, mistreatment, dispossession, assessment, lien or other infringement of personal or property rights, or denied or impeded the plaintiff in the exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege, power or immunity.

    2.    Violation of civil rights shall be punished by damages of not less than £1,000 and not more than £100,000.
