Chapter 5. Crimes.
§ 502. Murder.
1. No person shall be convicted of murder unless it can be proven that he caused the death of the plaintiff through an act or omission intended to cause bodily harm without the plaintiff's consent. Such an act or omission shall be considered murder if the person dies within three years of the time the act or omission occurred.
2. An act resulting in death shall not be
considered murder if the death:
a.
was a suicide, or
b.
occurred while defending oneself or another person against an act
intended to cause physical harm or where there is a reasonable belief that such harm may
occur, or
c.
was consented to by the deceased, in writing, provided such consent is
witnessed by two other people who may not financially benefit from the death, or
d.
was of an unborn child, in order to save the life of the mother, and it
would be medically impossible to save the life of the child. Any other killing of an
unborn child shall be considered murder, regardless of consent or lack of consent of one
or more of the parents.
3. Murder shall be punished by a term of not less than fifty years and not more than life imprisonment, and damages of not less than £200,000. A second murder conviction shall be punished by a term of life imprisonment and a fine of not less than £200,000.
4. No person convicted or acquitted of murder may be convicted of or later tried for manslaughter or wrongful death for the same incident.
