My favorite ... 'cause my students who've gone there really enjoyed
it ... was El Instituto Fenix in Cuernavaca, Mexico. But,
unfortunately, the gentleman who owned it retired.
Now, however, I have a new favorite based on personal experience!
In the summer of 1998, I went to the CENTRO
BILINGÜE ... The Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies
... in Cuernavaca, Morelos, MÉXICO. It was a wonderful program
(and the people there had worked with el Instituto Fenix before it closed
down). They put you in a small size class with other students at
the same level ... or even provide one-on-one instruction if that's what
it takes. Be prepared, though ... everything is up one hill and down the
next :-) We stayed with a family only minutes away from the school.
The students weren't nearly as impressed with the program in San
Miguel de Allende and were very "under-impressed" with one program in the
Canary Islands.)
An even better way to keep up once you're on a roll ... be prepared though,
you may have to convince the powers that be that you're not a kid looking
to kick up a bit of dust :-)

Mexican Games:
Lobo
http://members.aol.com/alysser/lobo.htm
Lobo is a lot like hide & seek. The "gang" sings the rhyme
saying that they wonder where lobo is. Lobo reponds that he's ...
bathing, dressing, etc. Finally, when he's ready he howls "¡Ya
me voy!". Whoever he catches become lobo for the next go-round.
Parangaricutirimicuaro
http://members.aol.com/alysser/parangaricutirimicuaro.htm
Parangaricutirimicuaro is a great tongue-twister. The kids from
Mexico love to say the long, long name of this teeny, tiny town.
Cosas culturales:

I've always wanted to see the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, but whenever
it's around, I'm someplace else. In October of 1996, we finally end up
in the same general vicinity. Trust me! It's worth the price of the seat.
