Fair Act
This act placed 7200 federal correctional workers job on an inventory list. Once placed on this list contractors can bid on these jobs. The Council is opposed to these action and they are working hard to stop it, but they need are help. Please contact our elected state officials and ask them to OPPOSE this act.
HR 1577
This bill was written to reform Unicor, but in fact it will kill Unicor. The Bureau as a whole could possibly lose up to 2500 positions in Unicor, and would idle 23000 inmates. FCI Beckley could be effected by the lose of 3 position and 170 inmates would be idle. More thugs for the hacks to babysit. Please contact Rahall and Byrd and ask for their support and OPPOSE this bill.
The local contacted Mr.Rahall concerning HR1577, his response was this: I will keep your views (WE OPPOSE THIS BILL) in mind to reguards to HR1577. Which tells the local that Mr.Rahall is a co-sponsor of this act and supports it. The local is asking all staff to flood this man's office with letters and ask him to oppose this act. Remember this effects the entire institution as a whole, you might not work in Unicor, but this will effect all of us!
I talked to Ron Rubottom last week and asked about the status of the new master agreement. He stated that they were working on article 8. As the local receives information it will be posted as soon as possible.
