INDIAN CORN
MATERIALS:
3/8 flat reed, 3 pieces 26 long (natural or dyed golden yellow)
1/4 flat oval, 1 long piece (space-dyed wine, dark green, and golden yellow)
#2 round reed, 1 medium length piece (natural or dyed golden yellow)
Mark the middle of the wrong side of the three, 3/8 spokes. Lay out one, wrong side up vertically, and place the other two on top in an X. Clip in place with clothespins. Slit one spoke to the center to make an odd number for continuous weaving. Take your 1/4 weaver and taper one end for about 4. Start weaving between the split and weave 2 rows flat; upset the sides and straighten the packing as you go. Weave and shape until the reed is used up, tapering the last 4 inches and ending as you began.
Fold the round reed in half and begin twining until the reed runs out. End to the inside with both ends. Cut the other two 3/8 spoke down the middle and shape to curve outward.
NOTE: Make three ears, one larger than the other two and join together with a rubberband. Tie with a raffia bow.
